マラケシュの郊外、アトラスマウンテンの麓に近いところにある Ourika というところに借りたヴィラまでは、マラケシュの中心地から車で３０分ほど。いよいよ、４日間借りたヴィラに到着し、ドキドキしながら中に入りました。あら、素敵！
The villa we rented was in a place called Ourika, which is about 30 minutes from the centre of Marrakesh by car. I was quite nervous if we’ll like the place until we went in because we have been disappointed a few times in the past with a house or a cottage we rented in England. Sometimes photos look much nicer than in real life. However, this place was just as lovely as the photos showed and we really loved it.
さっとリビングを通ってプールのあるお庭を見てから、ヴィラの中もぐるっと回り、それぞれお部屋を決めました。お部屋は１階に４部屋、２階に１部屋。２部屋は小さめのお部屋でバスルームもシェアーでしたが、ほかのお部屋の３部屋のうち２部屋は広々、１部屋はそこそこの大きさ。１階のお部屋のうち１部屋以外はお庭に出られるようにガラス戸がついていたと思います。テラスにもプールサイドにも食事ができるテーブルや寛げるソファーがあり、ルーフトップテラスからはお庭と山が見えて景色も良く、気持ちのよいヴィラでした。
There were 4 bedrooms on the ground floor and 1 bedroom upstairs. Unfortunately 2 rooms were smallish and shared a bathroom (we knew they shared a bathroom from the description) but the rest of the rooms were very nice, specially 2 of them were very spacious and beautiful. There are many places you could lounge outside as well as the lounge – at the pool side, right outside the lounge where was covered very nicely and also outside the dining room. There was also a lovely rooftop terrace, where we spent every evening drinking Champagne or wine until dinner time.
ネットで見て内装など気に入ったから借りたわけですが、ホテルにしてもイギリスで時々借りるコテージにしても写真と同じには違いないけれど写真の方が素敵だったとがっかりすることも多いので実際に見るまではドキドキでしたが、写真で見ていたイメージ通り。オーナーさんがイギリス人なので、内装はイギリスとモロッコをうまく合わせたような雰囲気になっています。カーテンのタッスルもお水のボトルカバーやグラスも夜になると明かりが灯る階段のランプ（？）も天井のランプも、とにかく素敵でした。時間があったらもっと色々お買い物をしたかったです。
The interior was decorated beautifully with a lovely mixture of Moroccan and British and I loved looking at all the details like lamps, tassels of curtains, water bottle covers and glasses, and many other little details because they were so beautiful. I would have loved to have more time to do more shopping to get some of those sort of lovely things for ourselves.
お天気も良く景色も良く、マラケシュの喧騒は嘘のような静かさ。朝はみんなで朝食をとり、日中出かける人もいれば、思い思いにリビングのすぐ外の日陰になるソファーで寛いで本を読んだり話をしたり、冷たい プールで泳いだり、ブールサイドで日光浴をしたり。夕方にはまたみんなでルーフテラスで夕日を見ながら、そして暗くなっても夕食前までシャンパンやワイン を飲みながらおしゃべりし（６時前に暗くなってしまうのです）てみんなで夕食、そんな数日を過ごしました。
We had beautiful weather for the whole time and it was so peaceful and quiet – a complete contrast to Marrakesh. We had breakfast together, then some went out for the day, some spent the day at the villa reading or chatting in one of the lounging places, some went in the freezing cold pool as they liked. In the evening we went to the roof top terrace to enjoy the sunset, view, Champagne or wine together before dinner.
マネージャーさん２人（引き継ぎ中のようでした）、シェフ、メイドさん２人が面倒を見てくださって、本当に極楽な４日間でした。帰って来たくなかったです（笑）。
There were 2 managers (I think one was leaving so the other was learning), 1 cook and 2 maids who cleaned – they all looked after us very well and were happy to do whatever we needed. We had wonderful 4 days there and didn’t want to leave!
１つ心残りなのは、全員揃って写真を撮らなかったこと。食事中の写真は撮りましたが、みんなでルーフトップで写真を撮れば良かった。初日に一緒だったみんなとは撮ったのですが、ロンドンから一緒だったご夫婦は１日遅れてマラケシュからヴィラにいらしたので全員揃ってからは写真を撮らなかったのです。返す返すも残念。。。夫と２人で残念がっています。
One thing that we regret is that we didn’t take any photos of everyone together when we were all together. We did take photos on the rooftop terrace on our 1st evening but 2 more friends joined us on the following day. We should have taken another photo with all of us together.
