昨日の夜（今朝？笑）、ずっと迷っていた Creativebug というサイトの会費を振り込んで Yao Cheng の水彩画のオンラインコースをダウンロードして葉っぱやリースやピオニーを練習してみました。紙によってもブラシによっても筆を下ろした時の感触というのか絵の具の広がり方が違って、ちょっとした葉っぱもなかなかうまく描けません。特にピオニーは本当に難しい。すご〜く簡単そうにさらさらさらっと先生は描かれますが、いざ自分で書いてみると筆の動かし方がどうしても思い出せない。ビデオを見ながら描くのも難しい。ゆっくり描いていると絵の具が乾くのでうまくいかない。あっという間に何枚もの紙を使ってしまいます。

I finally decided to pay the membership for “Creativebug” and take Yao Cheng Watercolor Classes last night and practised watercolouring leaves, wreathes and peonies.  How you need to paint (amount of water, the way you move your brush) changes depending on paper and brushes – each brush seems to work differently…. – and even painting a simple leaf doesn’t always work well and painting a peony is so difficult.  When Yao Cheng paints, it looks soooo easy but when I try I cannot remember how to move the brush.  Trying to paint while watching her video isn’t easy either, and if you paint too slowly the paint dries and it doesn’t work properly. 

水彩画の紙ってとても高価なので思う存分練習できない。安い紙を使って練習すると良い紙を使ったときに水分の含み方が全然違うので勝手が違う。やっぱり、難しい。。。絵の具も高価なので、どんどん使ってしまってついついもったいないと感じてしまいます。（上手になればそれほど絵の具は使うものではないと思うのですが。）また、お金のかかる趣味にトライしてしまいました、とほほ〜。数ヶ月後には今より上手くかけたピオニーをアップ出来ますように。

Watercolour paper is so expensive, so is paint, but it doesn’t take long to use 10 sheets of paper when you practice.  I guess you don’t use much paint once you get good at it but at the moment I seem to be using a lot of it.  This is another expensive hobby…. hope I can get a little better to make the cost worth it!
