昨日の夜の夕食は、Fat Prince というレストランに行ってみました。中近東料理のレストランを検索していて見つけたレストランですが、伝統的な中近東料理というよりも「中近東風」という感じかもしれません。お店の内装はレストランというよりバーに近い感じ。奥にはバーもあるそうです。音楽がうるさすぎて話がしづらいのが気になりましたが、素敵な雰囲気でした。
Yesterday, we tried “Fat Prince” for dinner. I found it when I searched “Middle-Eastern restaurants”. It’s not really traditional Middle-Eastern food, it’s more like it’s modern version, I guess. The interior was very nice but it looked more like a bar than a restaurant. One problem I found was that the music was playing very loudly and it was hard to have a conversation.
前菜から、揚げたカリフラワー、カリカリのポテト、赤キヌアのタブレ風をオーダーしてシェアーしました。前菜にしては思っていたよりボリュームがあるように思いました。
We ordered Fried Cauliflower, Crispy fried potato, Tabbouleh with red quinoa. They came in larger portion than we expected as a mezze.
揚げたカリフラワーには割と酸味が強めのドレッシングがかかっていましたが、とても美味しかったです。
Fried cauliflower was very tasty, it was a little sour but had good flavour.
カリカリに揚げたポテトは、本当にカリカリ、そして熱々。スパイシーなソースと中近東風のスパイスパウダーがついてきました。これも、とても美味しかったです。
Crispy potato was also very nice. It came with spicy sauce and Middle-Eastern spice powder.
赤キヌアのタブレ風。ドレッシングの酸味が強く、ハーブやスパイスも効いていてガツンと来る味付けで、夫はあまり食べませんでした。わたしはそこそこいただきましたが、もう少し酸味が控えてあるともっと美味しくいただけたと思います。
Tabbouleh’s dressing was too sour for us. It also has quite strong flavour from herb and spice. I didn’t mind it too much but my husband didn’t like it and didn’t eat much of it. I would have preferred it to be less sour, too.
メインのケバブは、ハルミチーズ、チキン、ビーフの３種類を１つずつオーダーして夫とシェアーしました。１つ１つはとても小さくミニタコスくらいの大きさだったので、１人２、３個食べられる感じ。どれも美味しかったのですが、ハルミチーズとチキンのケバブは結構甘みが強かったので、スパイシーなビーフが夫もわたしも一番好みで、この後１人１つずつビーフのケバブを追加オーダーしました。多分ソースだと思うのですが、食べようとするとだらだらと水分が手に流れてきて手がべちゃべちゃになってしまったので、食べるのには注意が必要。でも、美味しかったです。
Then we ordered 3 kebabs from the main. Halloumi, chicken and beef. I knew they were small but they were smaller than we expected but quite tasty. Halloumi and chicken ones were a little too sweet – still nice though – but beef was very nice (quite spicy). We ended up ordering 2 more of beef kebab (one each) to fill the last little space, they were very nice.
通常の中近東料理のレストランでメインのケバブをオーダーするとかなり量が出て来るのですが、ここは１オーダーの量がとても少くて（その分お値段も高くないのですが）、タパスくらいの感じ。がっつりお肉を食べたい方には物足らないと思いますが、わたしは前菜で結構お腹いっぱいになるので丁度良かったです。
Usually, you get quite a large portion when you order kebab for a main in a Middle-Eastern restaurant but as I say these were very small, like mini tacos, and I think most of us can eat at least 2 each, maybe even 3 each quite easily. Personally I prefer this style of eating a lot of starters and having a small amount of the main, but some people may find this disappointing.
夫はエスプレッソ、わたしはフレッシュミントティーを飲みました。デザートは１種類しかなく食べたいと思うものではなかったのでパス。
My husband had espresso and I had fresh mint tea. There was only 1 dessert on the menu and it wasn’t something we wanted.
タブレは少しドレッシングの味が強すぎると思いましたが、他は美味しかったです。飲み物は、レバノンのビール２種類を１本ずつ、ガス入りのお水１本。お会計は１４０ドルとワインを飲まなかったからというのもありますがシンガポールとしてはリーズナブル。メニューの品数がとても少なくて、シーフードとラムを除くとわたしが食べられるものはあと２つくらいしかなかったような気がするので、日を置いてならまた行きたいですがすぐにはいいかな。もう少し品数を増やしてくれると嬉しいです。
Tabbouleh was too sour and had too strong flavour but we enjoyed the rest. We had 1 bottle of Lebanese beer (2 different kinds) and a bottle of sparkling water and the total bill was S$140. I guess it’s partly because we didn’t have wine but I thought it was still good value for Singapore. Sadly, their menu is very small and I found only 2 more things I could try so I’ll be happy to go back sometime but not too soon. I would be happy if they expand their menu.
