Sweet Potato Gnocchi

夫がニョッキを作るとのことでしたが、ニョッキに使うのに良い水っぽくないポテトが大量に入っているものしか見つからず、サツマイモのニョッキを作ることになりました。こちらの水っぽいサツマイモもより日本のサツマイモの方が良いのではとわたしが提案したのですが、恐らくそれがいけなかったのだと思います。一緒に作ったときに生地が硬いとは思ったのですが。。。どっしり重いニョッキになってしまいました。多分、レシピは水っぽいサツマイモを使うレシピだったのだと思います。残念〜。ソースは、マッシュルーム入りのソースなのですが、ホワイトソースを乳製品を使わずにストックでのばしたソースで、これも糊っぽくて微妙な感じでした。残念〜。

日々、勉強ですね。

My husband wanted to make gnocchi so we looked for potatoes that are good for gnocchi but we couldn’t find them other than huge bags of 2kg, so we decided to use sweet potato instead.  I suggested to use Japanese sweet potatoes because they are sweeter and also drier.  However, I think this was a big mistake.  The gnocchi turned out to be very heavy.  I helped him make it and I must admit I thought the dough seemed quite firm, we probably should have used much less flour.  Such a shame…  Also the recipe he used for the sauce was something like white sauce with mushrooms but using chicken stock instead of milk or cream and I wasn’t a big fan of it, it seemed too gluey to me.

Oh well, these things happen and we learn something new.
