いつも参考にしている Jennifer McGuire さんのカードですが、少し前からクロススティッチのカードをたくさん作られていて、ずっと気になっていました。それようの型（穴を開けるための型）は購入したものの、クロスステッチの針と糸がなく（２０年くらい前にしばらくしていたので昔からあるタイプの糸はあるのですが、パールコットンという使いやすいタイプがほしかったので）、そういうものを扱っているお店がシンガポールにはあまりないのでわざわざ行くのも面倒で。。。やっと昨日、出かけたついでに買ってきたので、早速１枚だけつくりました。

Jennifer McGuire, whom I follow religiously, has recently been making many cards using cross-stitch, and I’ve been wanting to make some of these myself.  I did buy a die that makes those holes but I didn’t have the right embroidery threads and needles.  I did do quite a lot of cross stitches 20 years ago or so, but I was using the type of embroidery threads that have been around for a long time, I wanted to use Pearl Cotton threads because they seem easier to use and I also needed needles.  Yesterday, I finally got some so I made just 1 card.

メッセージの文字があまり目立たないような気がしますが、背景はカラフルで可愛い。クロスステッチに何時間かかったでしょうか、多分４時間くらいかかっているのではと思います。Youtube を見ながらでしたし結構楽しくて苦にはなりませんでした。カードのために刺すには時間がかかりすぎますが、何かを見ながら刺して、出来上がったらカードにする、というスタンスなら楽しいです。シルバーのベースに貼り付けて、メッセージはダイで抜いて３枚重ね透明のパウダーでヒートエンボスしています。

The sentiment doesn’t seem to stand out enough but I like the background of cross stitches.  I think it took me … 4 hours?  I was watching some YouTube videos and I enjoyed stitching so that wasn’t a problem but it does take too long to stitch for a single card.  As I say, I enjoy it so I will do more of them while I watch TV or Youtube but I would not have stitched them just to make a card.  I just adhered it on a silver base and cut the sentiment 3 times, adhered them on top of each other then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
