午後からのサファリでは、サンダウナーがつきもの。サンダウナーというのは、夕日を見ながらドリンクを楽しむことのようです。夕日が落ち始める少し前にガイドさんが夕日が綺麗に見える安全なところにジープを止めて、ポテトチップスや野菜スティックとディップなどとプロセッコやジン、ウィスキー、トニックウォーター、ソフトドリンクなど用意してくださり、みんなできれいな夕日を眺めながらドリンクを楽しみます。

At Shamwari, when you get near to the end of the afternoon Game Drive, you stop to have a “Sundowner”.  Sundowner is a “happy hour” during sunset over the African Bush.  A little before sunset, the driver takes you to a safe place, where you can get out of the jeep and view a lovely sunset, while he sets up drinks and nibbles for you.

 

 

 

 

ふと見ると、キリンが見えました。遠くの方にキリンがいるのが見えますか？真ん中より少し右寄りです。

During our first day’s G&T we saw a giraffe.  Can you see one far away – a little to the right of the middle?  It is slighlty surreal to be standing in the bush having a G&T while a giraffe has it’s dinner nearby.

もう薄暗い中でのズームなので画質が落ちて絵画みたいになってますが。

It was getting dark and I zoomed up a lot so it looks as if it’s a painting…

しばらくすると、もう１頭出て来ました。雄と雌で模様が濃い方が雄だそうです。

Then another one showed up.  The one with darker marks is a male and the smaller is a female.

 

 

よ〜く見ると左上に象も見えています。

この翌日はゲームドライブの途中から雨になりましたが、そんな中でもサンダウナーは行われました（笑）。幸い雨はほとんど振り終わっていたのですが、寒い中、凍えながらジントニックを飲みました（笑）。寒かった〜。何があってもサンダウナーはするんだとドライバーさんがおっしゃっていました（笑）。

On the following day, it started to rain in the middle of the evening drive but we still had a Sundowner!  Fortunately it wasn’t raining much by the time we stopped for it, but it was very cold and I was shivering as I had my G&T!  Apparently whatever happens to the weather the driver still sets it up every time.

 

朝のゲームドライブでは、コーヒーや紅茶とクッキーが用意されました。

In the morning game drives, he set up tea, coffee and cookies.  What a pleasant way to round off the daily drives.
