Lunch At Patara (Thai)

I had lunch with a new friend I made at a flower class recently at “Patara”(Thai) in Tanglin Mall as she wanted to try it again.  I haven’t been there for a little while.

I sort of forced her to try 2 dishes that are my favourite – Olive Rice and Stir-fried Morning Glory with Chilli and Garlic.  2 dishes I always order.  The other one we had wa Stir-fried Chicken with Holy Basil.

For dessert, my friend had Mango & Sticky Rice (no photo) and I had Banana Fritter.  The Banana Fritters must have been fried in oil that was at too low a temperature, they had absorbed so much oil!!

I don’t often have dessert in this restaurant but I have a feeling I didn’t like their dessert when I occasionally have done so.  I tried a little bit of my friend’s Mango Sticky Rice – the mango was good but I didn’t think the sticky rice was very good.  I feel it’s better to have dessert somewhere else.   All 3 dishes before dessert were good, though.

In a way it’s nice for us that it’s always very quiet there, we never have to make a booking, but on the other hand it’s a bit worrying because we don’t want it to close.  It’s been there for many many years so hopefully it’s doing OK.
