ガーデン・ロードのあとは、ケープタウン郊外にあるワイナリーが集まっている地域にある Franschhoek という街の「Akademie Street Boutique Hotel」というホテルに２泊しました。今回の旅行では失敗したと思うホテルは１つもなく、どこもなかなか良かったのですが、中でも最後の３日間借りた家とこの Akademie Street は特に気に入って、また泊まりたいと思ったところでした。街のホテルですし高層ではないので景色が良いわけではないのですが、細かいところまで配慮されていて、広くて、居心地が良いホテルでした。

After driving back along the Garden Route, we stayed in a hotel “Akademia Street Boutique Hotel” in Franschoek, a town where a lot of wineries are.  On this holiday, all the hotels/accomodations I chose were good, there wasn’t any that we disliked.  However, the house we rented in Cape Town for the last 3 days and this Akademie Street Boutique Hotel were our favourites and we would love to stay there again.  There is no view here, but you can tell the owner thought of every little detail for you.  The room is very spacious and very comfortable.

わたしたちのお部屋。写真では大きさがわかりにくいのですが、広々としたお部屋でした。スーツケースを置く場所も洋服などをかけるクロゼットもどこも広々としていて、使いやすかったです。

This is our room.  It’s hard to feel the size of the room from the photo but it is very large.  There was plenty of room for large suitcases and also plenty of room for hanging clothes, which is unlike most hotels.

昼間は暑かったのですが夜は結構寒くなりました。でも、食事から戻るとベッドの中の電気毛布がついていて、ベッドはホカホカでした。そんなサービスも嬉しかったです。

Although it was very hot during the day, it became cold at night.  However, when we got back to the room after dinner, the bed was very warm because they turn on the electric blanket while we are out, such a lovely touch.

ベッドの足元にあるスーツケースを置くものの隣の箱、あの中からテレビが電動で出てくるようになっていました。最近よくありますが、携帯から音楽を流せるようなスピーカーも備えてありました。そして、ミニバーの冷蔵庫にはサービスのプロセッコや無料のソフトドリンクが入っていました。

The box-looking thing next to the suitcase stand at the foot of the bed is where a TV is hidden and it comes up when you push a button of the remote controller.  They also had a speaker where you can listen to your music (from your iPhone).  The mini bar was full of free drinks like a bottle of Prosecco, water and a lot of soft drinks.

素敵なバスタブ。（ちなみにケープタウンは渇水が続いていて、一時期よりは良くなりましたがまだまだ十分にお水が使える状態ではないのでお風呂は使えない状態でした。わたしも夫もシャワー派なので問題ないですが。）シャワーブースは少し離れた部分にあります、気持ちの良いシャワーでした。

Beautiful bath tub -but we weren’t to use it because they have been having drought.  We prefer showers anyway so that wasn’t a problem.  There was a very nice shower booth on the other side of the area and it was a very good shower.

オーナーさんはアイルランドの方で、とても陽気でフレンドリーな方でした。

The owner was from Ireland, very jolly and friendly.

わたしも夫も旅行先で一日中観光しているタイプではありません。もちろん場合によってはそういう日もありますが、大体朝はゆっくり１０時か１１時ごろに出て、どこかでお昼と食べて、観光するなりお買い物をするなりしてお部屋に４時ごろ戻って夕食までゆっくりする、というのが基本スタイル。なので、ホテルのお部屋の居心地はとても大切。居心地が良いとお天気が悪くてもお部屋でのんびり過ごすのも楽しいですし、ここでは外食に飽きたので（というより、１日は街のレストランでディナーをしたらおいしくなくて。。。涙）２日目はデリでパンやチーズやハムを買って、ワイナリーで買ったワインとお部屋で食べたりもしました。２泊しかしなかったのが残念なホテルでした。

My husband and I don’t normally go out for sight-seeing on holidays.  We occasionally do that but normally we would go out around 10.00am or 11.00am, have lunch somewhere, do shopping or sight-seeing or whatever, then come back to the room around 4.00pm to relax a little before dinner, so hotel rooms are quite important for us.  When it’s comforable, even a rainy day isn’t so bad because you can relax in the room.  We got tired of eating out (well, actually we did eat out on our first evening here but the dinner was pretty bad) so we bought a few things like bread, cheese, ham and had a light meal in the room with a bottle of wine we bought at one of the wineries.  We would have loved to stay longer rather than just 2 nights.
