今日は、夜、チチェスター の街のシアターで上演された Moscow City Ballet の「眠れぬ森の美女」を見て来ました。香港ではバレーやオペラやコンサートによく出かけたものでしたが、シンガポールには行きたいと思うものがあまり上演されませんし、たまに来てもポスターなどを見かけないので見逃してしまい、もう何年もこういうお出かけをしていませんでした。
We went to the Festival Theatre in Chichester to see “Sleeping Beauty” performed by the Moscow City Ballet tonight. We used to go and see ballet, opera or concerts quite often in Hong Kong but not many good ones came to Singapore and when they did we missed it because we didn’t see many posters around, it’s been years since we went out for things like this.
チチェスター は家から車で１５分か２０分くらい。夫があまり飲めないのは残念ですが、車で行き来できるのは楽。上演は夜７時半からだったので、シアターの近くにある「Field & Fork」というレストランで早めのディナーをしました。
Chichester is about 15 or 20 minutes from our house. It’s a shame that my husband cannot drink much when we go in the car but it is nice to be able to just drive to this sort of event. It started at 7.30pm so we had an early dinner at a restaurant “Field & Fork” near the theatre.
プリフィックスのセットメニューから、前菜は夫はゴートチーズとビーツのタルト、わたしはスプラウトのバージ（ミントソース添え）。バージは割と美味しかったです。
From Prix Fixed Set Meal, my husband chose Goat Cheese & Beet Tart, I chose Sprout Bahji with Mint Sauce. My Bahji was quite nice.
メインは、夫は鹿肉、わたしは味噌味の茄子とそばサラダ。わたしのメインは味は良かったのですが茄子に塗ったお味噌が多すぎてすごく塩辛くて、茄子はトロッと美味しかったですしお味噌の味も甘辛くて美味しかったのでご飯でもあれば美味しくいただけたのですが、そのままでは塩辛すぎてとても無理、半分くらいお水を飲みつついただきました。そばサラダも味は濃かったですが、いただけました、ごま油が効いていて中華風。西洋人のシェフは最近よくお味噌を使うようなのですが、なぜかほとんどの人が大量に使うのが不思議です。
For the main, my husband chose Venison and I chose Miso Aubergine With Soba Salad. The taste of my main was quite nice but they used much too much miso and it was so salty. Aubergine was nicely cooked and the miso seasoning had nice sweet and salty taste, it’s just that too much was used. I would have enjoyed it if it came with rice but without something to soak up the saltiness I managed only a half with a lot of water. Soba salad was also on the salty side but I was able to eat it, it tasted Chinese with sesame oil. It seems trendy to use miso for western chefs but they often use much too much of it, they need to understand it contains a lot of salt, they should use it more sparingly. Do they actually taste it, I wonder…
デザートは、クリスマスケーキとベリーのシャーベットをシェアー。
For dessert, we shared Christmas Cake & Berry Sorbet.
ワイン１杯ずつとガス入りのお水１本いただいて、夫がダブルエスプレッソをいただいて、お会計はチップを入れて８０ポンド弱（１２０００円）でした。
We had 1 glass of red wine each, a bottle of sparkling water to share and my husband had a double espresso – and it was about 80 pounds including the tip.
香港でもシンガポールでも最新の設備で大きな舞台でしたが、チチェスター ・シアターは小さなシアターで、舞台もとても小さかったです。来週は同じシアターのジャズコンサートに行くことになっていますが、ジャズにはこじんまりしていて良い感じのシアターでした。
Both in Hong Kong and Singapore, when we went to any event like this, it was in a very new and large facility, but Chichester theatre is very small. We are going back there for a Jazz concert next week, I think a small theatre like this is good for a live music, especially Jazz.
一斉に観客が外に出るので、近くの駐車場に駐めた車を出すのも大変かもと思っていましたが、シアターが小さいので観客の数も少ないのでしょう、待たずに出ることが出来ました。結構遠くから来ている人たちもいるようで、コーチ（長距離バス）が何台かピックアップしていました。
As everyone comes out of the theatre at the same time then drives their car from the car park nearby we wondered if it would take a long time to get out, but it didn’t, it was nice and quick, we didn’t need to wait at all. I guess as the theatre is small, there aren’t that many people. We saw some coaches picking up people in front of the theatre, so people seem to come from far away places.
