ハリネズミくん、あれからも毎日ではないのですが見かけています。お庭にいる時間は多分ほんの数分ですし、来る時間もまちまちみたいなので（違う子かもしれませんが）気にしていても見逃してしまっているようです。

I have seen the hedgehog in our garden a few times, but not every day. The time it spends in our garden is just a few minutes and it seems to come at a different time from different direction (they could well be different ones), so even though I am trying to see it it’s easy to miss it.

数日前からコンピューターの前に座った状態で見えるところ（ダイニングルームから裏庭に出るドアの外）に餌を撒いてみているのですが、見かけない日もなくなっていたので来てるんだな、と思い、気にしていたら昨日は夜中に来て餌を食べていました。でも、外は暗いので家の中の反射でドアの外はガラスに張り付かないと見えない(笑)。で、ガラスに張り付いてみていましたが、今日はちょっと寒いのですがドア半分を開けたままコンピュータを触っていたら、夜中に「カリカリカリカリ」と音がして、外を見たらハリネズミ君が餌を食べていました！このビデオの後ドアで見えなくなったのでドアに近づいたら気付かれてしまい、しばらく固まってから逃げて行っちゃいました。コンピューターでユーチューブを見ていても食べていたのでそういう音には敏感ではないようですし目もとても悪いそうなのですが、近づくとにおいでわかっちゃうんでしょう。

I have been putting some dried food (sold for hedgehogs) right outside of the door from the dining room to the garden, where I can see from my PC. Although I don’t see one eating it every day, the food is gone in the morning so I figured it’s coming every day. Yesterday I saw it eating it in the middle of the night but I had to stick my face to the glass door – as outside is very dark that is the only way I can see it – so today I left one door open. Then I heard crunching noise in the middle of the night, I looked outside and it was eating the food! After this video, it went out of sight behind the door so I moved to the other side closer to the door. I guess it knew someone was near and it froze for some seconds then walked off. I was watching something on Youtube but that didn’t stop it come close to the door and its eye sight is supposed to be very bad so I guess it’s the smell of human that made him know I was there.

アップにして撮っているので大きく感じますが、それほど大きくはないです、多分１５、６センチくらいの大きさかな。日本でよくペットに飼っているのよりずっと大きいですが。

I’m zooming in so it looks quite large but it’s, I think, about 15 or 16 cm, not so large. Much larger than what lots of people have as pets in Japan, though.
