I need to blog the rest of our Birthday Trip.

楽しみにしていた、Gidleigh Park というホテル、景色がよく、サービスもよく、ラウンジも居心地よくて大好きなホテルです。２０年以上、年に１度は泊まっているホテル。元々は昔留学していたエクセターのホストファミリーに会いに行く時に泊まるところとして泊まったホテルですが、今はこのホテルに泊まるためにデボンまで行くようになったお気に入りのホテルです。何年か前にホテルの営業者以来内装もサービスの雰囲気なども少し変わってしまいましたが、今でもとても良いホテルだと思います。

Here is Gidleigh Park that we love.  The view is beautiful, their service is excellent, the lounge is very nice and comfortable.  We have been going there for probably over 20 years at least once a year.  We stayed there for the first time when we went to see my host family in Exeter but now we go to Devon even just to stay here.  The owner of the hotel changed some years ago and the decor, the way they interact with clients changed but we think they are still one of the best hotels in many ways.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

イギリスに旅行に来ていたときはこういうタイプのホテルに２週間、３週間と連泊なのでお腹に余裕がなくクリームティーもほとんどできませんでしたが、今回は２回クリームティーをいただきました。こちらのスコーンは小さめ（というより、もう１つのホテルのものが大きかったのですが）、こちらも焼き立てで美味しかったです。

When we used to stay here visiting England, we would be staying in hotels like this for 2 weeks or 3 weeks so we hardly had the stomach to have Cream Tea, but this time we had Ceam Tea twice during our trip.  Their scones are much smaller than the ones in the other hotel, but this is more standard, I think.  These were also freshly baked and very nice.

前日、１泊目のホテルで長時間のディナーをいただいたので、こちらの１泊目はバーで軽食にしました。

We’d had a very long and late dinner on the day before, so on our first night here we decided to have something light in the bar.

 

 

ハムサンドと卵サンドを夫と半分ずつ。正直、ほとんど塩胡椒が感じられず味がなく、余りおいしくなかったです。なぜかホテルのサンドイッチって余り美味しくないことが多いイギリスです。チェーン店のサンドイッチショップなどのサンドイッチは美味しいのに。

We shared Ham Sandwich and Egg Mayonnaise but to be honest they didn’t seem to use much seasoning and they weren’t very tasty.  I have a feeling that sandwiches in hotels in England aren’t often very nice even though you can get great sandwiches from chain sandwich shops.

 

 

これは、チョコレートのシャーベットですが、ストロベリーシャーベットと２つオーダーして半分ずついただきました。シャーベットはとっても美味しかったです。

We also had dessert.  This is chocolate sorbet but we ordered strawberry sorbet as well and shared them.  Sorbets were delicious.
