今日はせっかくの良いお天気だったので、お出かけしました。ちょっと遅めかとは思いましたが、マグノリアの木がたくさんあるところに行ってみようということで、去年はニューフォレストで借りたコテージから行った「Sir Harold Hillier Garden」に行ってみました。借りていたコテージからは近かったですが、我が家からは１時間ちょっとかかります。でも、他にマグノリアの木がたくさんあるところが思いつかなかったので。ここもそれほどたくさんということではないのですが一応マグノリア・アベニューがあり、他にも色々なお花が見られます。余り陽が当たらない場所はまだ水仙や椿の花が綺麗に咲いていて、よく陽が当たるところはさつきや石楠花が咲いていました。去年は３月２４日に行っていましたが、今年はまだ寒いのでマグノリアは同じくらい咲いていた感じです。

As it was such a lovely day, we went out for a half day.  We thought maybe it was a bit late but wanted to go somewhere where we could see lots of magnolias so went to “Sir Harold Hillier Garden”.  We went there last year when it was quite close from the cottage that we were renting at the time but it takes a little longer than an hour from our house.  We couldn’t think of any other place to see magnolias.  Not that they have so many of them but there is a ‘magnolia avenue’, where there are 6 trees or so on both sides as well as others here ant there.  Where it tends to be in the shade you can still see daffodils and camellias but where the sun hits for a long time the azaleas and rhododendrons were already out.  Last year we were there on the 24th March but it’s been colder this year so the magnolias looked about the same in early April as they did at that time last year.

ちなみに、学校のお休みは来週だと思っていたのですが今週みたいです、お子さん連れのご家族がたくさんいらしていました。幸い、こういう場所はとても広いので混んでいるという感じにはならずゆっくりまわれます。

１時間くらい歩いて、お茶休憩をしました。わたしはコーヒー＆ウォールナッツのケーキ（アイシングが甘いのでアイシングはほとんど夫に、ケーキも少し食べてもらいました。）夫は、アイスクリーム。

After walking for about an hour or so we had tea break at their cafe.  I had coffee & walnut cake (the icing is very sweet so I asked my husband to eat most of it as well as a small portion of the cake) and my husband had ice cream.
