今朝、Civitavecchia という港に着きました。スケジュールにはローマ（Civitavecchia）とあります。ローマまで1時間半ほど、交通事情によって2時間以上かかることもあるそうです。
We arrived at the port of Civitavechia this morning. In the schedule for the cruise it says Rome (Civitavecchia), but Rome is quite far from the port, about an hour and a half or longer, depending on the traffic.
ここではエクスカーションには参加せず、ローマにお住まいのお友達ご夫婦に会いに行ってランチをご一緒して来ました。去年の5月にも会いに行ったお友達ご夫婦で、去年3月にアッシジの近くで経営されていたB＆Bをクローズしてローマに引っ越されました。１６年くらい前にB＆Bでのお料理教室に参加させていただいて以来、お付き合いが続いています。
Here we didn’t join any excursion because we wanted to go to have lunch with our good friends who live in Rome. Last year in May we went to Rome to see them because they’d recently moved there from near Assisi, where they were running a B&B for many years. After closing their business they moved to Rome in March last year. We first met the lady when we joined her cooking class about 16 years ago and since then we’ve been good friends.
船から港から一番近い電車の駅まで歩いて15分くらい、その駅からお友達がお住まいのお家から歩いて10分程度のところにある駅まで電車で１時間15分くらい。船を早めに出たので、大体片道2時間くらいかかりました。お友達が駅まで迎えに来て下さっていて、一旦、お友達のお家まで行って少しおしゃべりしてから、お友達の運転でお友達が予約して下さっていたレストランまで行き、ランチをご馳走になりました。偶然、今日はお友達ご夫婦のご結婚記念日だったそうです。知っていれば何か用意したのに！
From our ship, it was about 15 minutes’ walk to the closest train station, then from there to the train station in Rome closest to our friends’ place it was about an hour and 15 minutes. We left the ship earlier than necessary just to be sure, so it took us about 2 hours altogether. Our friend waited for us at the station in Rome and took us to her place, where we chatted a little while before she drove us to the restaurant she’d booked for lunch. It happened to be their wedding anniversary today and they bought us lunch! It doesn’t sound right! I wish we’d known.
電車のチケットはネットで購入出来て便利でした。
We were able to buy the train tickets online, which was very convenient.
お友達のお家に歩いている途中で見かけた、アニメのコスプレをしている女の子。電車の駅や電車の中でも何人か見かけました、多分どこかでイベントがあったのだと思います。
A girl in Cosplay that we saw on our way to our friends place. We saw some at the station near the port and on the train as well, so I guess there was some event somewhere.
お友達のお家のすぐそばの市場。お買い物はほとんどここでされるそう。フランスやイタリアでは今でも家の近くには市場があって、食材は大抵市場で買う方も多いのですよね。羨ましいなと思います。
The market near our friends’. She does food shopping mostly in this market. Many people still do food shopping at the markets near where they live, which is wonderful, I wish we could do the same.

お友達と夫はズッキーニとハムの前菜、わたしとご主人はアーティチョークのフライを前菜にオーダーし、わたしと夫は途中で変えっこしました。アーティチョークのフライは写真を撮り忘れていましたが、カリカリであまり油っこさは感じず美味しかったです。ズッキーニの前菜はズッキーニが薄くスライスされていてチーズたっぷりだったのでチーズとハムの味が強く、あまりズッキーニの味はしませんでした。
Our friend and my husband had a starter of courgette, ham & cheese and her husband and I had fried artichokes for a starter, my husband and I exchanged our plates half way. I seem to have forgotten to take a photo of the fried artichokes, but they were very crunchy, not too oily and very good. I thought the courgette was sliced too thinly and I could only taste ham and cheese.
メインは、お友達はツナ、ご主人は太いスパゲティーのアーリオ・オリオ・ペペロンチーノにカラスミをかけたもの、わたしは太いスパゲティーのキノコのソース、夫はフェットチーニのグァンチャーレとポテトクリームソース。それぞれ、どれも美味しかったようです。このでも夫のパスタが少し遅れてきたので、夫のパスタの写真を撮り忘れてしまいました。
For the main, our friend had a Tuna dish, her husband had Spaghettino Alio Olio E Peperonchino with bottega, I had Spaghettino with mushrooms, and my husband had Fettucini with guanciale & potato cream sauce. I think we all enjoyed our mains. My husband’s pasta came a little after ours did, so I’d forgotten to take a photo again.
レストランでは1時間ほどしかなかったのでちょっと忙しなかったのですが、お二人に会えて少しでもお話しが出来て良かったです！
We had only about an hour at the restaurant so it was a quick lunch, but we were very happy that we were able to see our friends!
今日も一日青い空の良いお天気で、ローマでは23度くらいと暑いくらいでした。昨日も今日もジャケットやカーディガンは必要なく、薄手の長袖がちょうど良いお天気です。(でも、ローカルの人たちはまだ薄手のダウンジャケットや冬のコートを着ている人がほとんどです。）昨日は長時間のエクスカーションに参加した割にバスに乗っている時間が長かったので、歩いた歩数は9,000歩でした。今日はそれほど歩かなかったので、現時点で7800歩弱、寝るまでに8000歩くらいでしょうか。
It’s been beautiful weather today with a blue sky, it was about 23C in Rome, hot in the sun. You don’t need a jacket or a cardigan yesterday or today, just a light long-sleeve shirt is perfect, although some local people are still wearing light puffer jackets or other winter coats. Although we took a long excursion yesterday we didn’t walk that far as we were on the bus for a long time, just 9,000 steps, and we didn’t walk that much today either and it’s about 7,800 steps right now, it’ll probably have done about 8,000 steps by the time I go to bed.
