今日もびっくりするくらい良いお天気で、５時の今も空が真っ青、雲ひとつありません。でも、気温は低くて最高気温が１２度くらい。お天気予報のアプリに旅行先を入れていたのでふと見てみたら、どこも雨マークがいくつもあります、わたしたちが旅行していた時はずっとピーカンでラッキーでした。
The weather has been surprisingly beautiful today again, it’s now 5:00pm but still the sky is blue. However, it is cold, the highest temperature is still 12C, like winter. On my weather application I still have the places we’d been to on holiday and I can see quite a few rain marks in many places, so we were lucky to have such amazing weather when we were there.
今日は、親しいお友達ご夫婦と「Millstream」でサンデー・ローストをご一緒しました。わたしたちの世代だとイギリスでは子供の頃は毎週日曜日のお昼にローストディナーを食べていた人がほとんどですが、サンデーロースとは結構キッチンが汚れて洗い物も大変なので滅多にしないお家がほとんどのような印象です。その代わりに、パブなどでサンデーローストをいただく人が多いようです。
We had a Sunday Roast lunch at “Millstream” with our good friends today. People in our generation most likely had Sunday Roasts most Sundays when they were children in England, but I have a feeling not many people cook Sunday Roasts often themselves now because it is a lot of work, the kitchen gets oily and washing up is a lot of work. Instead, many people go to a pub for Sunday roasts, I think.
他の３人はワインだったりビールだったりでしたが、わたしは夏のイギリスの飲み物、ピムズにしてみました。お酒を少なめに入れていただいたので、飲みやすかったです。そして、フルーツたっぷり！
The other 3 had wine or beer but I had Pimm’s but asked them to make it less alcoholic so it was easier to drink. It had a lot of fruits in it, which I had at the end.
夫は、ローストビーフ。
My husband had roast beef.
お友達のご主人とわたしは、ローストポーク。本来ポークにはヨークシャープディングはつきませんが、つけていただきました。ヨークシャープディングで見えませんが、カリフラワーチーズ、茹でた人参、キャベツなどもたっぷり。
My friend’s husband and I had Roast Pork. It doesn’t usually come with Yorkshire pudding but we asked them if they could add it and they did. The Yorkshire Pudding is hiding them but there was plenty of vegetables – cauliflower cheese, boiled carrots, boiled cabbage etc.
お友達は、サーモンのパイ。パイと言っても上にのっているのはマッシュポテト。

わたしは、ココナッツのパルフェ、ピスタチオ、パッションフルーツのシャーベット。
I had Coconut Paifait with Pistachio, and Passionfruit Sorbet.
ランチは１２時４５分の予約でレストランを出たのは４時を過ぎていたので、３時間以上いたことになり、アフタヌーンティーを召し上がっている方たちもおられました。いくら時間があっても話題に困ることなく、とても楽しいキャッチアップでした。
The table was booked at 12:45 and we left the restaurant a little after 4:00pm, so we were there for longer than 3 hours. Some new customers had started to have afternoon tea! No matter how long we have we never seem to have problem with things to talk about, as always we had a great time catching up with them.
