Mediterranean Cruising Holiday / Day 11 / Rhodes

クルーズ11日目の今日は、ギリシャのロードス島に寄港。今日申し込んでいたツアーも午後1時出発だったので、ビュッフェレストランでサンドイッチ(今日のサンドイッチは卵のベーグルサンド)とサラダでランチをしてから出かけました。

Day 11 of the cruise. We are at Rhodes. The excursion we took was starting at 1;00pm so we had lunch at the World Cafe as we often do – sandwich and salads – before we went off the ship.

ツアーは、Rhodes Town Walk. & The Palace of the Grand Masters （ロードスの街歩きと騎士団長の宮殿）、というツアーでした。港は街中にあって船から歩いて10分もかからないところでしたが、今日はさらに気温が上がり22度くらいまで上がりましたし、晴天で日差しが強くとても暑かったです。船のお客さんたちはほとんどがわたしたちよりもご年配で足腰に問題のある方が多いのでツアーで歩く時もゆっくりゆっくり歩くので、カンカン照りの中でもあり、汗をかきかなり疲れました。街歩きが2時間くらい、後宮殿でトイレ休憩を兼ねて20分の休憩の後、40分ほどかけて宮殿の中を歩き、宮殿の外で解散。わたしたちは船に向かう途中のレストランで冷たい飲み物を頂いきながら、少し休んでから、4時半ごろに船に戻りました。

ロードスの街は世界遺産に登録される「中世都市」でとても雰囲気がある街でした。建物の様子が独特で古い建物を見ながら歩くだけで楽しい街だと思います。

We took the excursion, “Rhodes Town Walk & The Palace of the Grand Masters”. The port is very close to the town, just a few minutes walk from the ship to the town. It was a beautiful day but the temperature went up to 22C, there was no cloud in the sky so it was very hot, I got quite tired from being hot for a few hours after the excursion. The majority of the passengers of the ship are older than us and many of them have some sort of problem with their hips/legs so the guide walks very very slowly and stops often, which I find more tiring than walking at a normal speed, specially under the strong sun. We walked about 2 hours in the town, then had about 20 minutes’ rest when we arrived at the Palace as a toilet stop at the same time, then walked for about 40 minutes or so inside the Palace. After that, we were told we can go our own way if we’d like so we walked slowly towards the ship and stopped at a restaurant for a cold drink on our way. We got back on the ship around 4:30.

The town of Rhodes is registered with UNESCO and is a “medieval town”, very charming. It’s fun just to look at the old buildings in the town.

街を歩いた後は、パレスに入りました。

夕食は、今日は特別イベントのバーベキューがあったので、バーベキューをいただきました。ミニバーガー、ホットドッグ、ポークリブ、とうもろこし、ポテトサラダ、コールスローなど。美味しくいただきました。

There was a special event of BBQ on the ship for dinner today, so that’s what we had at the pool area. Mini burger, hot dog, pork rib, sweetcorn, potato salad, coleslaw, etc. It was quite good.
