昨日から始まる予定だった屋根の修理、昨日雨だったので今日に延期になりましたが、３日かかると聞いていたのが今日１日で終わりました。問題箇所も見つかって修理が出来たので、これで雨漏りもなくなることと思います。5000ポンド（968000円）は痛い出費でしたが、雨漏りの原因になっていた箇所とその周辺の状態が良くなかったところを修理出来て、良かったです。
The roof repair, which was scheduled to start yesterday, was put off to today because of the rain, but it has already been completed! We were told it would take 3 days but it just too one whole day. They found the problem, fixed it, and the area that was deteroirating around that has also been repaired. 5,000 pounds is a lot but at least the problem has been fixed properly.
今日は、ペットワースの美容院に午後２時半に予約を入れていたので、お昼過ぎにアランデルに出て「Cockburn Tea Room」で軽いランチをしてからペットワースに向かいました。今日は予報通り良いお天気になり、１６度くらいまで上がりました。昼間は太陽を直接浴びると暑いくらいで、街の人はみなさん夏服でした。
I had an appointment with my hair salon in Petowrth for a haircut at 2:30pm, so we left a little early to Arundel and had a light lunch at Cockburn’s Tea Room. My husband ordered Bacon, Brie & Cranberry sandwich and I ordered Coronation Chicken but we shared them after all. As forecasts, it was very nice and sunny today. The temperature was about 16C, which doesn’t sound much but it felt very warm with the sun directly on you. Everyone in town was wearing summer clothes.
ランチの後、美容院に向かう時間までまだ時間があったので、アランデルのアンティークショップをいくつか覗いて見ることにしました。何年か前にお友達と一度アンティークショップを見て歩いたことがありますが、それ以来です。ケーキやフルーツなどをいただく時に使う小さめのフォークやスプーンが欲しいと思っていたのですが、丁度良さそうなのを見つけたので買いました。シルバープレートのフォーク６本のセットと、スプーン６つのセット。それぞれ、多分16ポンド（3000円）くらいでした。イギリスではデザートに使うフォークもスプーンも凄く大きくていつも使いにくいなと思っていて、小さいものを探してもなかなか見つからないので買えて良かったです。
It was too early to leave Arundel to drive to Petworth when we finished lunch, so we decided to visit a few antique shops. We’ve done that some years ago with our friends but not since. I’ve been trying to find small forks and spoons that we can use for dessert/cake/fruit because I find the ones people use in England too large and I haven’t found any suitable small ones. We found these at one of the antique shops, 6 silver plated spoons and 6 silver plated forks. They look the right sort of size and I’m happy we found them.
