昨日の Chichester Jazz Club での演奏は、「Leon Greening & Steve Fishwick Quartet (Soul Time)」でした。大体３週間に１度くらい演奏があるのですが、いつも満席、またはほぼ満席になっています。以前も書きましたが、観客はわたしたちくらいの年齢から上の方達がほとんど。ジャズを好むのがそういう年齢なのでしょうね。所謂イージージャズではなく、どう説明すれば良いのかわからないのですが、結構本格的なジャズなので、中には「思ってたのと違った」とブレイクの時に帰る方もたまにおられますが、全体的にはみなさんとても楽しんでおられます。 The performers at Chichester Jazz Club last night was the “Leon Greening & Steve Fishwick Quartet – Soul Time”. 今日も雨が降ったと思ったら晴れて、晴れたと思ったらまた雨が降って、というおかしなお天気でした。そして、今日も寒い。来週水曜日あたりから暖かくなって、その数日後には場所によっては２５度まで上がる予報です。この辺りは２３度くらいみたい。 It rained, then became sunny, then rained, then sunny … the changeable weather continues. ロンドンでは昨日雹が降ったそうで（今日はどうだったのでしょう）、こちらでは今日少し雹が降りました。変なお天気で、少し雨が降ってやみ、雹が降ったと思ったら雨に変割、数分後にはすごく晴れ、そんなお天気でした。でも、気温は今日も低いです。昨日も夜は暖炉に火を入れました、そろそろ暖かくなってほしい。 I saw that it hailed in London yesterday, I wonder if it did today, too. 今日は、ランチを兼ねて植物を見に久しぶりに大きなガーデンセンターに行って来ました。 We went to a large garden centre to browse what they have as well as having lunch today. ランチは、夫はカプレーゼ・パニーニ。下半分のパンがソースでべたっとして、今ひとつだったみたいです。そして、この量にいつも驚きます。 My husband had Caprese Panini. Rhododendrons & Azaleas (Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens)
今日は、家で軽くランチをした後、「Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens」に今が季節のさつき、つつじ、石楠花を見に行ってきました。２年前に行った時は特にロック・ガーデンのつつじが見事だったのですが、今年は少し遅かったみたいです。その代わり、石楠花がきれいに咲いていました。場所によっても種類によっても咲く時期が少しずつ違うので、４、5、６月に行けばそれなりに楽しめると思います。お天気予報を見ていて明日行こうと思っていたのですが、ランチをしていたらお天気がとても良かったので、急遽、ランチの後行くことにしました。今日も明日も曇り時々晴れ、という予報で大きな雲が時々現れては太陽が顔をだすというお天気なのでタイミングが難しいところでしたが、幸い、ちょうどわたしたちが歩いていた時はとても良いお天気でした。気温が低めなので風もあって歩き始めは寒かったのですが、たくさんの坂道を歩いている間に温まりました。歩き終わってお茶とケーキをいただく頃には結構大きな雲に覆われて来ていたので、一番お天気が良い時間帯に歩けたようで良かったです。 After we had a quick lunch at home, we headed to “Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens” to see azeleas and rhododendrons. 今日は何も予定が入っていない日だったので、ランチとお茶の時間の間に１時間ほどバックガーデンの草抜きをしました。気温は１７度くらいだったみたいですがとにかく日差しが強くて陽が当たるところで作業をしていると暑くて汗だくになりましたが、日陰は風もあって涼しかったです。バックガーデンは大分雑草が少なくなったので、次回はフロントガーデンを頑張ります。雨もすっかり少なくなったので土もとても乾いていたので、夫に水遣りもしてもらいました。これからは、草抜きと水遣りの繰り返しになります。 We didn’t have anything on today, so we did some gardening between lunch and tea time, I worked hard at weeding and my husband helped me with putting some large twigs in the bin and watered the gardens. 今日、ブルーベルを見に行ったのは、すぐ近くの「 Lower Wepham Wood」いう森で、駐車場からぐるっとゆっくり歩いて５０分くらいのループになっています。今年はイギリスは暖冬だったのでブルーベルも早かったようで、半分くらいが終わっている感じでした。 So, we went to a place called “Lower Wepham Wood” to see bluebells today. 夕方５時半ごろ、ローマから戻って来ました！今日はイギリスのお天気もとても良くて、気持ち良かったです、お天気アプリには１６度とありましたがもっと暖かく感じました。ただ、まだ夕方以降ぐんと冷えて４度とか５度とか一桁台なので、昨日から暖房は入れていましたしましばらく暖房は必要なようです。 We got back home from Rome today around 5:30 pm!
