昨日も書きましたが、昨日は「Exbury Gardens」に石楠花を見に行きました。我が家から車で１時間ほどのところにあります。ニューフォレストにあるので去年３月末にニューフォレストのコテージを借りていたときにも行っていますが、もちろん芍薬には早すぎる時期でした。今回は見頃ではないかと思って行きましたが、今年はあまり気温が上がっていないせいか、綺麗に咲いているものも沢山ありましたし中には散り始めたものもありましたが、見頃はまだこれからのように思いました。機会があれば何週間か先にもう一度行って見たいと思います。芍薬より少し遅れて咲くさつきやつつじはまだまだな感じでした。とっくに終わったと思っていたブルーベルが意外と結構残っていました。 As I wrote yesterday, we went to “Exbury Gardens”. 今日もすごく良いお天気になりました、暑いくらいです。気温は１９度ですが日影でも薄いシャツとスケスケカーディガンで気持ち良いお天気。 It’s another beautiful sunny day today. The temperature is 19C but it feels quite warm even in the shade and it felt good to be out with just a very thin shirt and a very thin cardigan. 木曜日と今日の午後（涼しくなってから）、数日前にガーデンセンターで買ってきた植物の植え付けをしました。玄関に置いている中くらいのサイズのポット２つとバックガーデンの手前のパティオの大きなポット２つと奥のパティオの大きなポット２つ。どれも朝のうちに夫がそれまで植えてあった植物を取り出してくれていて、植え付けだけで昨日２時間くらい、今日１時間半かかり、昨日も今日も植え付けが終わってから夫が後片付けをしてくれたので、合わせると４時間以上かかっています。 On Thursday and yesterday in the late afternoon, we potted the plants we bought at the…
Arundel Castle (Allium Display)
２ヶ月に１度くらいお目にかかる香港時代からのお友達ご夫婦から、アランデル城のお庭にたくさんアリウムが咲いているらしいのでご一緒しませんかとお誘いがあり、今日の午後行ってきました。比較的最近、チューリップフェスティバルの時に行ったので前回行ってからまだ半月くらいしか経っていないので、まだチューリップも少し残っていました。アリウムはパープルのものが多いですが他にも白や濃いピンクや淡いピンクのものなどもあるので色々なのが見られるかと思いましたが、少なくとも今日見られたのはほとんどがパープルで我が家のお庭にあるのと同じか似たものばかりでした。白いのも見かけましたが数少なく、ほとんどがまだ咲いていなくてやっと蕾が綻び始めた状態でした。パープルのも感激するほどの数ではなかったですが、気候も良く、特に何かなくても歩いていて楽しいお庭です。広いお庭なので、ゆっくりとお話ししながら１時間半くらい歩いたかと思います。本当に綺麗で、こんなところが家のすぐ近くにあるのはラッキー。 A friend couple that we’ve known since our Hong Kong days asked if we wanted to meet them at Arundel Castle to see the allium display in the garden, so we met them there this afternoon. 今日は朝は良いお天気だったのにお昼頃にびっくりするくらい突然の大雨が降りましたが、その後また良いお天気になっています。 It was very sunny in the morning, but then suddenly rained very heavily around lunch time. 今日は１日とても良いお天気で、気温はまだ１５度でしたが日差しが強くて風がない時は暑いくらいに感じました。そろそろポットのお花を夏仕様に変えたいので、夏のお花が出ているかガーデンセンターに見に行って来ました。前回行ったときはまだパンジーやプリムラなど春のお花ばかりでしたが、今日は、春のお花と夏のお花が混在していましたが、夏のお花もたくさん出ていました。ただ、種類が少なくて思っているものはなかったですが、ネットでもそれほど種類がないのであるもので手を打つしかありません。来週（５月８日から）ちょこっと旅行に出るので、戻ってきてからにしようと思います。 It was a beautiful day today. ちょっと久しぶりの、ガーデン・アップデート。 Garden update, I haven’t done this for a little while. フロントガーデンは水仙だらけですが、これは１週間ほど前の写真で、今は少し枯れてきています。バーベナやデルフィニュームの背がずいぶん高くなってきて、キャットミント、ジェラニュームもだいぶん葉っぱがふさふさして来ました。 A lot of narcisus in the front garden, these photos were taken about a week ago and some are fading now.
