先ほども書きましたが、金曜日は The Chichester Jazz Club のライブに行って来ました。今シーズン最後のライブということで、 Chichester Jazz Club All-Starsによる演奏でした。サックス奏者の方がおっしゃるのは、ギタープレーヤーとは面識があったけれど他の４人とは当日２時に初顔合わせだったのだそうで、普段は７０％くらいが即興だけれど今回は９０％が即興だとおっしゃっていました。これまでの演奏者の方達の演奏とはちょっと違うタイプのジャズで、とても楽しく聴かせていただきました。（夫が言うには特にベースプレーヤーは有名な方だそうです。） As I wrote in my previous blog post, we went to a live jazz at The Chichester Jazz Club last Friday. Bristol / Handel’s Messiah
今日は、ブリストル・ビーコンというごく最近改装が行われて再オープンしたコンサート会場で行われた「Handel’s Messiah」（ハレルヤ）を聴きに行きました。クリスマスの時期に必ず行われるコンサートのようです。 We went to a concert of Handel’s Messiah at the Bristol Beacon, which re-opened very recently after renovation. Something very Christmassy to do, I guess, for English – although not so much for me.

昨日のジャズライブは、ロニー・スコッツでの Brubecks の演奏でした。メンバーのピアノの方とギターの方は兄弟なのですが、お父様が作られて世界的にヒットした曲、「テイク・ファイブ」が演奏最後の曲でした。日本をイメージして作られたという「琴ソング」の演奏もありました。座ったところは真横だったので、ドラムスの演奏が全く見えなくて残念でしたが、2部ともとても楽しめました。 The jazz show we went to see was the Brubecks at Ronnie Scotts. A Night At The Opera
今日のオペラは、ロイヤルオペラハウスでのプッチーニの「ラ・ボエーム」。豪華な劇場。 The opera we went to was La Boheme at The Royal Opera House. Beautiful building. 前半喜劇、後半悲劇。とても楽しめました。決してオペラに明るい訳ではありませんが、オペラは初めて観たときから好きですし感動します。観るまではたまに歌が流れてくるのを聞いても、何が良いのかわかりませんでした。音楽はやはり生が感動します。 The first half is comical and the 2nd half is tragic.
