フロントガーデンが、今、とっても綺麗です。写真より見た目の方が華やかに感じます。バーベナはすごく背が高くなって、１８５センチの夫より高いです。キャットミントもゼラニュームも大きく育ちました。バックガーデンと違って南側なので、よく咲いてくれます。フロントガーデンのリノベーションをする際に、「コテージガーデン風にしたい」というのが希望でしたが、そんな感じになりました。本当はバックガーデンをこんな感じにしたかったのですが、北向きだと育たない植物がほとんどで無理なのです。 Our front garden is looking beautiful at the moment, it looks more beautiful in real life than the photos can show. Okonomi-yaki
少し前にお好み焼きをするつもりが暑すぎて出来なかったのですが、涼しくなったので、今日の夕食はお好み焼きでした。いつものように、カリカリの一銭焼きを先に食べてからお好み焼き。緩めの生地でキャベツたっぷり、青ネギたっぷりでふんわりと焼いたのが好みです。とっても美味しかったです。 We wanted to have Okonomi-yaki a little while ago but it was too hot, but now that it’s gone a bit cooler we had it for dinner today. Dinner At Thai Time In Arundel
今日の昼間は結構暑かったのですが（お天気情報ではこの辺りは昼間２３度くらいという情報だったと思いますが実際には日陰で２５度はありました）、日が暮れてくると急に涼しく、というか、風が強くてちょっと寒いくらいになり、半袖のトップにカーディンガンを着ていても寒かったです。 It was quite hot during the day (the weather information said around 23C but our thermometer said 25C in the shade), but cooled down very quickly in the evening and it felt a little cold with the strong wind even with a cardigan over a short-sleeve top. 今日は、以前も書いた、ペンステモンとフォックスグラブ（それぞれ３１鉢ずつ）が届きました。ぎりぎりまで連絡は来ないですし翌日回しになることもよくあることなので、明日の午後からガーデナーさんが来られて植え込みをしてくださるのでもし配達の予定が変わってしまったら困るなぁ、と思っていたのですが、無事に届いてほっとしました。明日早朝雨が降るという予報ですが、その後やむという予定で気温も比較的低めの予報なので、お天気予報が当たれば植え込みもしやすいお天気なのではないかと思います。 I’ve written that we ordered some…
Cold Pasta With Peach & Parma Ham
今日の夕食は、今年初めての冷製パスタ（中華冷麺は先日食べましたが。。。）、桃と生ハムのパスタでした。以前、さくっと簡単にレシピを書いたことがありますが、大体いつも似たような感じで作っています。今日は桃があまり甘くなかったので、ワインビネガーは使わずに、ホワイトバルサミコ酢とレモン汁を使い、パスタを和える時にも少しだけ蜂蜜を使いました。今日入れたのは、桃、生ハム、ロケット、バジル、ミント。黒胡椒をしっかり効かせるのが好み。 Today’s dinner was Cold Pasta for the first time this year (although we did have Chinese cold noodles the other day) – Peach & Parma Ham Pasta. French Patisserrie Lesson (Nougat Glace)
木曜日のフランス菓子教室で作ったもう１つのヌガー・グラッセ。生クリームを泡立てたものと卵白を泡立てたものを冷凍庫で凍らせたもので、イタリアのセミフレッドのようなもの。キャラメライズしたアーモンドがたっぷり入っていて、他にラムレーズンやオレンジピール、ピスタチオも入っています。上から蜂蜜とキャラメライズしたアーモンドをかけていただきます。夫が毎日食べたいと絶賛していました、とっても美味しかったです。ちょうど良いサイズの型がなかったので大きな型を使って２倍の大きさで作ったので、しばらくいただけます！ The other thing I made at the Zoom French Baking Class was Nougat Glace, which has whipped cream and whipped egg white, similar to Semifreddo in Italy. Lunch At A Vineyard (Tinwood)
今日は少し前からインスタだかfacebookだかに入って来ていて気になっていたヴィンヤード（ワインは作っていないのですが、ワインに使う葡萄畑があるところ）でランチをして来ました。ヴィンヤードとしては随分前からオープンしていたと思いますが、食事が出来るようになったのは最近だと思います。ただ、テーブルの予約はヴィンヤードのツアーと込みでないと出来なくて、テーブルが空いていれば座れる、というシステムなので遠いところだと諦めるかもと思いますが、たまたま家から車で１０分ほどのすぐ近くにあるので行ってみました。今日はとても良いお天気で青空が広がっていたせいもありますが、レストランはパティオや芝生のベンチで仮フルニアなどのワイナリーを思い出す雰囲気でした。 We went to a Vineyard called Tinwood for lunch.
