昨日はまだ気分が良くなったり悪くなったりだったので、１日ベッドで過ごしましたが、今日は熱はほぼ平熱に戻っていますし大丈夫そうだったので、２日ぶりにシャワーを浴びて髪を洗って乾かして、一応起きて過ごしています。寝込むと起きた時にふらついて体が重かったりするものだという遠い記憶ですが、今回は結構大丈夫。お昼も普通にサンドイッチを食べました。まだ鼻詰まり治っていないのであまり味はしないのですが、食欲はそこそこあるので元気になってきたということでしょう。お薬はまだ飲んでいて切れてくるとまたしんどくはなりますが、動けないほどではない。 Yesterday, I still spent the whole day in bed, sitting up when I felt better and laying down when I felt unwell, but my temperature is down to almost normal today so I got up, took a shower, washed my hair, dried it – just this seems to take a lot of energy when…

Garden Update
８月も終わって今日から９月、今年も残すところ３分の１になりました。１１時ごろまで明るかったイギリスでも、もう夕食を終わる頃には暗くなるようになりました。今日いただいたお友達からのメールには、日がすっかり短くなって、これから数ヶ月は憂鬱、とありました。日本は９月はまだ暑いくらいですし秋は良い季節でわたしは秋がいつも楽しみでしたが、イギリスでは秋からはジメジメとして雨が多く、気温も急に下がりますし、冬には３時過ぎには暗くなってくるのでやはり憂鬱になる方が多いみたいです。わたしと夫はどちらかというと外は寒い冬、暖かい家の中で好きなことをして過ごすのも結構楽しめるのですが、それでも日が短くなってくると夏が終わるのが寂しい気持ちも湧いてきます。特に今年はお庭で過ごす楽しさが加わったので、あまりお庭を楽しめなくなるのが寂しく感じます。 August has gone and it’s September from today, we are 2/3 of the year has already gone. Tea In The Garden
今日は晴れたり曇ったりのお天気で、日陰では半袖では寒く久しぶりにカーディガンを着てパティオでお茶をしました。今年はこれまでになく、パティオのテーブルで食事をしたりお茶をする機会が多かったです。多分、１つは暑い日が多かったから。暑い日も夕方には涼しくなるのでパティオの方が家の中より涼しいので何度か夕食を外でしました。もう１つは、お庭のリノベーションをして初めての夏で、パティオを大きくして敷石も好みのものに変えましたし、お庭に愛着が湧いてお庭に座るのが楽しくなったからだと思います。 It’s been a bit changeable today, sometimes very cloudy and a little cold and sometimes nice and sunny. 最後の１種類のダリアが、咲きました！すごく大きなお花で、測っていませんが直径２０センチはあると思いますし、調べると２５センチの花が咲くと書かれていました。とても綺麗！お隣の奥様は絵を描かれるのですが、「写真を撮って描いても良い？」とメールがありました。絵を見せていただくのも楽しみです。 The first flower of the last dhalis that hadn’t bloomed yet finally flowered! Mini Garden Update / Agapanthus
４月に植えていただいた苗や球根の中にアガパンサスもあって咲くのを楽しみにしていましたが、ずいぶん前から葉っぱは出ていて立派に育っているものの、お花はなかなか見られませんでした。調べてみたところ、アガパンサスは１年目には咲かず２年目や３年目から咲き始める場合もあるとあったので今年は咲かないのかなと諦めかけていたのですが、昨日、１つ目の蕾を見つけました！もうすぐ咲きそうです。毎日お庭を歩いて見ていますが、結構見逃しているみたいで、昨日、初めて気づきました。先ほど観察してみたら、もう１つ茎が少し出てきているものがありました。 One of the plants that we planted in the spring is Agapanthus and we’ve been looking forward to seeing the flowers, but we hadn’t see any so far although the leaves have grown very large. 今日の夕方、お庭にはほとんど風もなくそこそこ暖かかったので（今夜９時ですがまだ１８度あります、少しずつ暖かくなってきています）、パティオで夕食をしました。今日の夕食は、ロースト野菜のクスクスサラダ、レシピは Delia Smith の「 Roasted Vetetable Couscous Salad With Harissa-style Dressing」を元にしています。（茄子があると思っていたらなかったので省略、フェネル、ニンニク、ゴートチーズも入れていません。）お野菜がとっても甘くて本当に美味しい。４人分くらいありそうな量でしたが、ほとんど２人で食べてしまいました。 There was hardly any wind in the evening in our back garden and it seemed warm enough (it’s 18C now at 9:00pm, it is slowly getting warmer again), so we decided to have dinner on the patio. フロントガーデンで、２つ目のダリアが咲きました！Sara Raven という種類。 The second dahlia has a bloom, ‘Sara Raven’, in the front garden. Verrone’s Obsidian も多分これが満開の状態だと思います。 I think this Verron’s Obsidian is in full bloom. 他のもたくさん蕾をつけています。 Others also have a lot of buds now.
