London Day 2 / Lunch At Dishoom
今日のランチは、コベントガーデンのDishoomに行きました。鼎泰豊同様、ロンドンに来ると必ず行くレストラン。インド料理ですが普通のインド料理と少し違っています。 We went to Dishoom for lunch today. Like Din Tai Fung, we almost always go to Dishoom when we are in London. London Day 1 / Din Tai Fung & Opera
ロンドンに3泊で来ています。宿泊ホテルは、クラリジッズ。今回のお部屋は長細いお部屋でした。 We are in London for 3 nights from today staying at Claridge’s. This time our room is a long rectangular shape. 今日はオペラを観に行く予定が入っていて7時開演だっため夕食の時間がすごく早かったので、チェックイン後はそれまでお部屋でゆっくりして、夕食は予約をしていたコベントガーデンの鼎泰豊に行きました。住んでいるところでは美味しい中華も飲茶も皆無なので、ロンドンに来たら必ず行きます。コベントガーデンの鼎泰豊はオペラハウスからも近くて便利。5時半からだったので予約しなくても大丈夫かなと思いながら一応予約を入れたのですが、結構混んでいて並んでいる人もいたので予約をしていて良かったです。オペラハウスやシアターが近いので、早い時間も案外混むのかもしれません。 We were going to the opera this evening and it was a 7:00pm start so we needed to have a very early dinner. Japan Centre (Ichiba) & Petersham Nurseries
ロンドンから戻って来た日は、途中で２ヶ所の寄り道しました。１ヶ所目は、Westfield という大きなショッピングモールの中にあるジャパンセンター Ichiba。ジャパンセンターは２店舗あり１ヶ所には以前行ったことがあるのですが、こちらの方が大きいようだったのでこちらに行ってみました。でも、思っていたより小さく品揃えも少なくて、期待はずれでした。ネットショップでは買えないラーメンとか店舗なら置いてあるかもと思っていたのですが、品揃えは多分ネットショップと同じかなと思いました。お野菜もあまり種類はなかったです。 On the way back home from London we stopped at two places. Shopping & Lots of Walking In London
今回のロンドン滞在では、わたしにしてはとてもたくさん歩いていて、午後3時ごろにロンドンに到着した日曜日は6300歩くらい、昨日はなんと14,800歩くらい、そして今日は早めに4時ごろにホテルに戻ったのですが、それまでに11,400歩くらい歩きました。夕方また出かけるので、もう少し今日の歩数は伸びるはず。 This time in London I’ve been walking A LOT for me. On Sunday I walked 6,300 steps after we arrived in the hotel around 3.00pm. Yesterday I walked 14,800 steps and today 11,400 steps so far (we got back to the hotel around 4.00pm) and we’ll be walking a little more in the evening….

Dinner At Rovi (London)
今日のディナーは、オットレンギのレストランの1つ、Roviに行きました。ここのレストランは、発酵食品に特に力を入れているレストランです。今日は小皿を中心にオーダーし、1品だけメインから選びました。 We went to Rovi, which is one of Ottolenghi’s restaurants. This particular restaurant’s emphasis is on fermented food. We ordered a few small dishes and just one main dish. ビーフのカルパッチョ、アーティチョーク、トリュフ・リコッタチーズ、ザタール。今日オーダーした中で、これが1番好みだった気がします。 Beef Carpaccio, globe artichoke, truffle ricotta cheese, zatar. I liked this one best of all the dishes we ordered. ブラタチーズ、生のグリーンピース、インゲン、スモークベイでキュアーした卵黄、バジル。わたしはブラタチーズはミルクっぽくて苦手なのですが、夫が大好きなのでオーダーしました。スパイスとドレッシングが効いていてわたしも美味しくいただけました。ただ、シュガースナップピーが筋っぽくて食べられず、わたしも夫も一度口に入れましたが出さざるを得ませんでした。このレストランでこれはない、と思うのでスタッフの方にお伝えしたところ、お会計には入れないとのことでした。クレームするのは無料にして頂きたいからではなく、改善してほしいのですが、嫌な顔をされなかったのは良かったです。 Burrata cheese, raw peas,…
Disappointment
ロンドンではお芝居やライブジャズやコンサートやオペラなど、何かしら催しを見に行くのも楽しみの一つ。前回来た時はまだコロナに感染するのが心配だったので我慢したのですが、イギリスはもうほぼ通常に戻っているので（感染者は今も出ていますが、重症患者や死者は随分減りました）今回は明日のオペラ、マダムバタフライのチケットを取っていて、久しぶりのオペラを楽しみにしていました。ところが、今日、キャンセルになったというメールが届きました。鉄道や地下鉄のストでスタッフが出勤出来ないというのが理由。とても残念！ One of the things we love doing in London is to go to some kind of event like a play, live jazz, a concert, an opera etc. The last time we were in London we decided not to go to any of them because the situation with Covid was still bad enough to make…

お買い物をしてホテルへの帰り道、夫が暫くパブに行っていない、とこぼしていたのでパブの外席で冷たいもの（夫はもちろんビター、わたしはオレンジ、プロセッコ、ジンのカクテル）を飲みました。今日も26度まで気温が上がっていましたが、日陰に座るには最適なお天気だったので、しばらくピープルウォッチングを楽しみました。 After shopping on our way back to the hotel we stopped at a pub and sat at an outside table for a cold drink (my husband, of course, had bitter and I had a cocktail of orange, Prosecco and gin). 今日はお昼前からお昼を挟んでお買い物をしていましたが、途中、セルフリッジでお茶休憩を挟みました。飲茶で甘いものを食べられなかったので、お茶と一緒にエクレアをシェアー。ピスタチオのエクレア。びっくりする大きさでしたが（普通のエクレアの倍くらい）、美味しくいただきました。中身は日本のエクレアよりかなりヘビーです。 We were doing shopping from about 11.00pm until 4.00pm (with lunch) today but we had a tea break in Selfridge’s.
