昨日は、わたしたちの３７回目の結婚記念日でした！この辺りには特にお気に入りのレストランがないですし、仕方なくどこかでディナーを食べるより近場で良いからどこか行こう、ということになり、Alfriston の The Star というホテルに１泊で行くことにしました。今日は Hastings の近くにお住まいのお友達ご夫婦とランチをする予定が入っていたので（でも、残念ながらお孫さんの体調が悪くて学校を欠席しなくてはいけないので今日はそのお孫さんと一緒に過ごすことになりランチは延期になりました）、そのランチに行ける場所ということで選んだ場所でした。そのホテルにチェックインしてお部屋に入って、真っ先に撮った写真がお花の写真。このホテルには以前２度泊まったことがあるだけなのでお部屋に飾る花束にしては豪華だなと思ったら、後で分かったことですが、夫が手配してくれていた結婚記念日のお花でした。これまでにも夫から花束をもらったことは何度もありますが、出先のホテルのお部屋に届けるアレンジをしてもらったのは初めてでした、ありがとう！

It was our 37th Wedding Anniversary yesterday.   Since we don’t have a restaurant we specially love around here, rather than just having a dinner in one of the local restaurants, we decided to go away for a night and chose to stay and dine at The Star in Alfriston.  We were also going to have lunch there today with our friends, who live near Hastings, and Alfriston is quite easy for them to get to. Sadly the lunch was postponed because one of their grandchildren was unwell this morning and could not go to school and they had to look after her. 

After checking in at the hotel yesterday afternoon, when we went into the room, I noticed a lovely large bouquet of flowers and it was the first thing I took a photo of.  We’d stayed in the hotel twice before but we aren’t really regular customers, so I was wondering why there was such a lovely bouquet until my husband told me later that he made an arrangement for it as our wedding anniversary present.  My husband has given me a bouquet of flowers many times before but this is the first time he made such an arrangement to be delivered to a room when we are away.  Thank you!!

ちなみに、わたしはどういうわけかカードを作ることをすっかり忘れていて、昨日の朝、「あっ！大失敗？」と気付いたという失態、とほほ。夫に貸りが出来ました。

As for me, I don’t know how it happened, but I totally forgot to make an anniversary card to give my husband and didn’t think of it until I woke up yesterday morning.  I owe him one now.

先ほど家に戻って来たので、お気に入りの花瓶に。

After we got home, I put it in one of my favourite vases.
