何度かアップしていますが、我が家のお庭やこのクロースのお庭には時々グリーン・ウッドペッカー（きつつき）がやってきます。わたしたちが見かけるのはその中でもごくたまのことですが、恐らく結構頻繁に来ているのではないかという気がします。ですが、これまでいつも１羽だけしか見かけなかったのですが、今朝は夫が裏庭に３羽いるところを見かけたそうで、ビデオを撮っておいてくれました。１羽がもう１羽に食べ物をあげていたそうなので、親子でしょうか。グリーン・ウッドペッカーの両親は子供に交代で餌（ほとんど、蟻だそうです）を与えるそうで、子供が大きくなってきたら餌の取り方を教えるためにアリをつかまえて食べさせるのだとか。随分長い間いたそうです。

I have blogged about green woodpeckers a few times and we do see them now and again in our back garden or the communal garden in the front of this close.  We think they visit here quite often, although it’s only now and again when we actually see them.  Until today, whenever we see one it had always been just one, my husband saw 3 of them together this morning and he took a video for me.  One of them was feeding the other one, so maybe they were parents and a baby?  Apparently the parents take turns to feed their babies (they eat mostly ants) and when their babies are bigger they would show how to get ants and would feed them to them.  My husband said  they were here for a long time.
