昨日も雨、今日も雨、ずっと暗いです。明日は回復する様子ですが、その後また雨。コルフ島は今日から１週間ずっと晴れで、その後少し崩れそうです。１０月は丁度雨が多くなり始める時期だそうですが、その年によってよく降ったりそうでもなかったりみたいです。わたしたちは結構ラッキーだったようでした。
It’s been raining quite a lot today and has been very dark, it was similar yesterday. It looks like it’ll be better tomorrow and the following few days but then rain again. Looking at the forecast in Corfu, it looks like it’s beautiful weather there for the next week, then it gets more unstable. October is the time when the weather changes there, sometimes it’s still quite warm and sunny but sometimes colder and rainy. We were told we were lucky to have such lovely weather during our stay there.
そんな雨ですが、そろそろお庭にマルチングをする時期なので欲しいメーカーのマルチングがあるかどうか見に行きたくて、ガーデンセンター（この辺りで一番大きなハスキンス）に行って来ました。一昨年は結構置いていたのですが去年は少しだけで、今年は置いていないみたいで残念です。ネットオーダーするしかなさそうです。ネットでオーダーするとクレート（木でできた重たい箱のようなパッキング）で届いて道の真ん中にどんと置かれるので、それをお庭に運ぶのが大変なのです。
In this rain, we went to a garden centre, Haskins. It’s time to do some mulching in our garden so we wanted to see if they are carrying the mulch we like. The year before last they had a lot but last year they had only a little and we couldn’t find any at all this year. I guess we have to order online. The trouble of ordering online is that they deliver them in a heavy crate and dump it in the middle of the street in front of our house and my husband has to disassemble the crate and carry the heavy bags of mulch into the back garden.
ガーデンセンターでランチもしました。雨で行くところもないせいか、ガーデンセンターのカフェはとても混んでいました。夫はヘルシーに、スモークサーモンとサラダ数種類の盛り合わせ。お豆類や穀物のサラダでした。葉っぱのサラダにドレッシングがないのが残念ですが、美味しかったようでした。
We had lunch at the cafe. I guess there is nowhere to go in this rain, the cafe was very busy. My husband chose a healthy dish, one of smoked salmon & a few salads. The salads were grain salads and pulse salads. Shame there was no dressing on the salad leaves but he said it was quite good otherwise.
わたしは、ここに来ると大抵これ。ローストした地中海野菜のパニーニ、ちょっとスパイシーなソースがはいっていて、パンも美味しい。チップスも、とても美味しい。ほとんどのパブやレストランより美味しい。どうしてこれが、パブやレストランで出来ないのかな？
I almost always have this Roasted Mediterranean vegetable panini. It has a little spicy sauce inside, the bread is very nice and I enjoyed it. Chips are excellent here, too. Much better food than you get in most restaurants, cafes and pubs around here, I don’t understand why this isn’t the standard in other cafes, restaurants and pubs, too.
