今日はお昼頃から良いお天気になる予報でしたが、お昼にはまだ雨が少し降っていましたし、今、４時半を過ぎましたが空はグレーで暗いです。今日（というか、正確には明日）、日付が変わって午前２時に冬時間になるので（午後２時が１時になる）、さらに早く日が暮れるようになります。今頃から３月までは暗い暗いイギリスです。わたしたちはアウトドア派ではないのでそれほど苦にならないはずで、引っ越して来て最初の冬はあまり気にならなかったような気がしますが、今では、やはり、ちょっと気が沈むイギリスの冬です。
The forecast said it was going to get a little sunny in the afternoon, but it didn’t. It was still raining lightly after lunch and has been very grey all day. The clocks will go back at 2:00am tomorrow so the sunset will be even earlier, I feel the days from now until March are going to be very dark and wet most of the time. We are not ‘outdoor’ people so it shouldn’t matter too much, I feel we didn’t mind it so much in the first winter, but now I feel a little down from this time of year, at least about the weather.
今日は、ペットワースの美容院に予約を入れていたので、少し早めに出て、Cowdray Farm Shop & Cafe のカフェでランチをしました。明日はハロウィーンということで、ファームショップの前はパンプキンがたくさん置かれていました。
I had an appointment at my hair salon in Petworth today in the afternoon, so we left home a little early so we can have lunch at Cowdray Farm Shop & Cafe on our way. It’s a Haloween soon so the front of the farm shop was decorated with lots of pumpkins.
夫は、BLT、わたしは「チキンカツ・バップ（バーガー）」。チキンカツ・バップ、衣がカリカリで珍しくぱさぱさだったり硬過ぎたりせず、美味しかったです。チキンが多過ぎたので、３切れあったうち１切れは残しました。
My husband had BLT and I had ‘Chicken Katsu Bap”. The Chicken Katsu was very crispy outside and inside wasn’t dry and hard like it often is. There was too much chicken so I left 1 of the 3 pieces.
冷凍庫の中のお肉が空っぽなので、ここでステーキ肉やポーク、チキンなど少しずつ買って来ました。いつもはペットワースのお店で買いますが、ここのお肉も悪くないはずなのでトライしてみることに。他にも果物やパンなど買ってからペットワースに向かいました。
The meat drawer in the freezer was empty after our recent disaster so we bought some steaks, pork & chicken here today. We usually go to the butcher in Petworth but they don’t always have what we want unless we let them know in advance so we thought we’d get some at Cowdray as we have bought some meat here before and it was always good. We bought a few other bits and pieces like fruits and bread and headed to Petworth.
髪型は基本的に何年もほとんど変わっていないのですが、イギリスに来てからどんどん後ろが長くなって来て、毎回もっと短くとお願いするのですがなかなか伝わらず、髪が伸びるのが早いのもあって後ろが重くなっていました。イギリスに来て最初の２、3ヶ月はロンドンの日本人の美容室に行っていたのですが、ロックダウンで行けなくなり、ロックダウンが開けて少ししてやっと今の美容室に行き始めたので、その時にはもうずいぶん伸びていたのですよね。なので、そのイメージで切ってくださっていたのだと思います。今日ははやっとほぼ希望していた長さになって、すっきりしました。
My hair style basically hasn’t changed for ages but since we moved to England it’s been getting longer and longer. ‘Every time when I go to the salon, I ask the hairdresser to make it shorter but it has never got as short as I wanted. When we first moved to England I used to have my hair done at a Japanese salon in London in the first few months. Then the lockdown happened and I couldn’t go to London. After lockdown, I started to go to this current salon in Petworth but by then my hair was much longer than usual, my hair grows very fast, and I guess the hairdresser has that image of me. Anyway, it is now a lmost as short as I want and I feel much better. Chic
