今日は、お友達ご夫婦とルイスの「The Pelham Arms」でキャッチアップのランチをしました。９月初めのお友達のサプライズバースデーパーティーでお目にかかって以来なので、約2ヶ月ぶり。お孫さんもたくさんおられるので、いつもお忙しそうです。ルイスはお友達のお家と我が家との大体真ん中くらいにあるので、この辺りでランチをすることが多いです。ルイスは素敵なところなのでお天気が良ければちょっと歩きたいところですが、今日も昨日同様、１日暗かった。お天気予報では曇り時々晴れになっていますが、太陽は見かけませんでした。
We had a catch up lunch at “The Pelham Arms” in Lewes with our friends. We saw them at the surprise birthday party of the wife in early September so it’s been a little less than 2 months since we met last. They have many grandchildren and always seem busy. Lewes is about the mid point between their house and ours so we often meet up around there, it’s a nice little town and would have been good to walk in the town but it wasn’t good enough weather. It’s been very overcast all day, not as the forecast said. It was supposed to be cloudy with sunny intervals but I didn’t catch any sun anyway.
夫は、お野菜（人参と何か）のロスティとフムス、ローストした人参を選びました、雛豆をカリカリにローストしたものが上にのっていました。美味しかったようです。
My husband had Vegetable Rosti (carrots and something else) with hummous and roasted carrots with crispy roasted chick peas, he said it was quite good.
わたしは、前回食べて美味しかったのでベトナム風サンドイッチ（バーンミー）にしました。お豆腐が入っていたのですが美味しくなかったので、今回は最初からお豆腐なしでお願いしました。美味しくなくはないのですが、なぜか今回はシャンツァイではなくディルが山盛りに入っていてディル味になってしまっていて、ベトナム風には感じられませんでした。残念。
I had Bahn Mi (Vietnamese sandwich) because it was very good the last time we were here. I didn’t like tofu that time so this time I asked them not to include it. It’s not that it was bad today but I preferred the one I had last time because for some reason today they put tons of dill instead of some coriander leaves like last time so that made it more western vegetable sandwich than Vietnamese flavour.
デザートは、スティッキー・トフィー・プディングをシェアー。甘いソースは添えていただいてほんの少しだけかけました。
We shared Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert. The sauce is very sweet so I asked them to serve it on the side and we used only a little drizzle.
たくさんキャッチアップをして、クリスマス前にもう一度逢いましょうとお別れしました。
We did a lot of catching up and parted saying we’ll get together before Christmas.
