今日はチチェスターに出かける用があり、ついでに Sainsbury’s というスーパーに寄ったのですが、買いたいものを大体買ったところでスタッフの方達が「今直ぐ、避難してください！」とおっしゃったのでわたしたちも持っていたカゴを置いて出たのですが、何の説明もなく、スタッフの方たちはスーパーの駐車場の外に向かって歩いていかれたので、スーパーのドアの直ぐそばの辺りで待っているお客さんたちもおられましたがなにがあったのかわからなかったのでお買い物は諦めて帰ることにしました。ついでだったから寄ったのでどうしても今日必要なものはなかったのが幸いでした。何があったのやら。
When we were out to Chichester today, we stopped at Sainsbury’s but just when we were nearly done the staff were shouting for everyone to evacuate, so we just left what we were going to buy and got out. Although there were many people standing around the building, the staff were all walking away from the building, so we decided to just leave the shopping in case it was something dangerous, since we didn’t have anything we absolutely needed today. I wonder what it was about.
「寒いねー、雪が降りそう。」と言いながら車に乗ったのですが、途中から霙が降りました。良いお天気だなと思っていると暗くなったりというお天気でした。明日も寒そうです。
When were were getting in the car, we were saying how it felt like it would snow as it felt very cold, but it did start to sleet. It didn’t last very long, though. It was sometimes very sunny but sometimes very cloudy. It looks like it’ll be cold again tomorrow.
今日の夕食は、久しぶりに Amberley の「The Boathouse」に行きました。結婚してからイギリスに来るまで、ほとんどずっと金曜日の夜は外食していたのですが、今は行きたいと思えるレストランがほとんどないので外食が随分減ってしまいました。イギリスは外食がとても高いですし家で食べる方が健康には良いので、外食が減っているのは悪いことではないのですが、楽しみが減った気はしています。
We went to “The Boathouse” in Amberley for dinner today. Until we came to England we almost always went out for dinner on every Friday night but there aren’t many restaurants we like around here so we aren’t eating out often these days. It is very expensive to eat out here and it is better in health wise to eat at home in most cases so it’s not a bad thing that we don’t eat out so often but I do miss it.
夫の前菜は、サーモン。
My husband had salmon for the starter.
わたしは、チーズコロッケとアラビアータソース。
I had Cheese Croquets with Arrabiata sauce.
夫のメイン、ビーフフィレステーキ。
My husband had Beef Fillet Steak for the main.
わたしは、ポークチョップにしてみました。柔らかくて臭みがない部分はとても美味しかったのですが、臭みがある部分もありました。付け合わせのチャードはニンニクとレモン風味でとても美味しかったです。
I had Pork Chop. Where it didn’t taste gamy it was tender and very tasty but there were some bits that tasted gamy. The side vegetable, which was chard with garlic and lemon, was very nice.
夫のステーキにはほとんどお野菜がついてこないので何かサイドディッシュをオーダーした方が良いとのことだったので、サイドにキャベツをオーダーしてシェアーしました。シンプルに焼いただけですが美味しかったです。
As my husband’s steak didn’t have much vegetable, we were recommended to order a side dish to share and ordered Charred Hispi cabbage, which was just simply grilled but very nice.
デザートは、フランジパニとチェリーのケーキとピスタチオのアイスクリーム。これも、美味しくいただきました。
Then we shared a dessert – Frangipani & Cherry Cake with Pistachio ice cream which we enjoyed.
赤ワイン１杯ずつとガス入りのお水１本をシェアーして、お会計は130ポンド（25,000円）。高いんですよねー。でも、イギリスでは仕方ありません。
We had a glass of red wine each and a bottle of sparkling water to share and the bill was £130. 25,000yen sounds so expensive but £130 isn’t particularly expensive here for a good enough restaurant.
