先日、ご近所の方を軽い食事にお招きした時、「この辺りで歩いて楽しいところがあまり見つからない。」という話しになりました。その方は大きな犬を飼っておられるので毎日お散歩に出かけておられているので、歩くところには詳しくて、ご本人は森の中を歩くのがお好きだそうですが（わたしは苦手、景色も見えないし木があるだけでつまらなく感じます）、Komoot というサイトに色々ウォーキングルートの情報が得られることを教えていただきました。メインバーにならないと見ることが出来ませんが River Arun Footbridge – St Michael’s Church, Amberley Loop from Amberley というウォーキングのルートを夫が選んで、昨日の午後、歩いて来ました。夫は気づかなかったのですが最後の１キロほどが大きな道路沿いだったのが残念だったのですが、アンバリーの駅からフィールドのパブリック・フットパスを歩いてアンバリーの村まではとても楽しいルートでした。⒌６キロの道のりを１時間半くらいで歩きました。
When we invited our neighbour to supper the other day, we talked about how we haven’t found many places to go for a proper walk. She has a large dog and goes out for a walk every day so she knows many walks. She herself likes walking in the woods but I don’t, I find it boring because you don’t get any view and all you see is ground and trees, but she sent us a link to “Komoot”, which is a website with lots of walking routes (you need to be a member to find the information). From the site, my husband chose “River Arun Footbridge – St Michael’s Church, Amberley Loop from Amberley”, which is a loop walk from Amberley station, a distance of 5.6km. Although the last 1km or so was along a main road, which isn’t pleasant to walk on, we really enjoyed the rest of the route walking through fields on public footpaths and in Amberley village. It took us about an hour and a half.
スニーカーにするかウォーキングブーツか迷って久しぶりにウォーキングブーツを履きましたが、ウォーキングブーツにして良かったです。このところ雨はあまり降っていなかったので道は乾いてはいましたが、かなりぼこぼこしていて歩きにくいところが多かったです。でも、牛や羊のフンがない道だったのは良かったです、避けながら歩くの、結構疲れます。
I wasn’t sure if I needed to wear proper walking boots but after considering for a while I decided to wear them and I was very glad with my decision. Although the path was very dry as it hasn’t rained much recently, it was quite bumpy, sometimes full of large stones, so it would have been a bit unpleasant to walk on in sneakers. I was also glad that there weren’t any poos of cows and sheep as I find it tiring to walk trying to avoid them.
アンバリーの村にあるティールームでお茶をするつもりでいたのですが、水曜日は定休日でお休みでした（涙）。ちょっと休憩に丁度良かったのに。
We were going to have tea in a tearoom in Amberley village but to our huge disappointment (I was so looking forward to having a little rest) it was closed – they close on Wednesdays.
今の季節、どこに行っても野生のブラックベリーをたくさん見かけます。市販のものの６分の１かもっと小さいくらいの小ささですが、たまに大きめ（それでも市販のものよりかなり小さい）のを見かけたので少しだけ積みました。
You see blackberries growing in hedges everywhere at this time of year, they are much smaller than what you get from shops. We picked some that looked larger than most today.
ウォーキングルートのサイトを教えてくださったご近所の方がいらしたとき、お散歩に出た時に摘んでうちにもたくさんあるから、と、こんなにたくさんブラックベリーを持っきてくださいました。どこでもみかけますが小さいのでこれだけ積むのは結構大変だったはず。
The neighbour I mentioned about walks brought this large container full of blackberries that she’d picked on her dog walks, she said she has plenty at home for herself. It must’ve taken her quite a long time to pick this many.
