ロンドンから戻った翌日（先週の木曜日）はお昼頃にネイルサロンい行ったあと、チチェスターの「17GRAMS.」でサクッとランチをしました。わたしはアボカドトースト、夫はベーコンやポーチドエッグをのせたイングリッシュマフィン。
On the day after we got back from London, I had my nails done in Chichester and we had a quick lunch at “17GRAMS.”. I had Avocado Toast and my husband had English muffin with bacon & poached eggs.
そして、その足でクリスマスツリーを買いに行きました。
Then we went to get our Christmas tree.
ツリーを買ったら幹を少し切ってバケツにお水を入れてつけておくのですが、幹を切るのが結構大変なのでお店の方にお願いして切っていただきました。
You are supposed to cut the bottom of the tree before putting it in a bucket of water when you get it home but it’s such hard work with such a thick tree as the one we chose, so we asked the staff to do it for us and he kindly did.
こういうネットに入れていただきて、車で運びます。
Then it gets wrapped in a net bag like this.
去年乗っていた車より今の車は少し小さいので、こんなことに。
Our current car is a little shorter than the one we had last year so we were worried if it would go in, but it just did.
バケツにお水を張ってツリーをつけてお庭に置いていましたが、夕方から雨が降るという予報だったのでその前にリビングに入れてしまうことにしました。ツリーが濡れてしまうとしばらく入れられないので。ツリー用のバケツのようなものにセットして、ネットを切り離して１番置いて、下のこの写真はその翌日、枝が落ち着いてからの状態です。
When we got home, we put the tree in a bucket with water and left it in the garden, but the weather forecast showed it was going to rain so we put it inside in the evening just before the rain started. Once the tree gets wet we’d have to wait until good weather again and we didn’t know when that would be. We set it in the tree support, (filled with water) inside the tree basket and cut the net and pulled it off. The photo below is on the next day when the branches had come down.
この日も翌日も色々用があって飾り付けをする時間がなかったのですが、夫がライトだけ飾ってくれました。飾りなしの状態も好きだなと毎年思いますが、やっぱりこのままだと寂しいでしょうか。
We didn’t have time to decorate the tree this day or the following day, but my husband put the lights on so we enjoyed the tree with just the lights for a couple of days. Every year I think “I quite like it as it is without the decorations, just with lights” but would it be strange if we left it like this? So we did decorate it.
