今日は、わたしたちが住む田舎の村で「オープン・ガーデン」という催しがありました。一般のお家のお庭に自由に入って見せていただける、という日。小さな村で１８軒くらいのお家が参加されていました。でも、今日はあいにくのヒートウェーブで暑くて！最初は思っていたほど暑くなくてゆっくりと日陰を歩く分には快適だと思ったのですが、しばらく歩くと暑くなり、汗だく。そして、お庭は大体南向きが多くて日陰がほとんどなく、お庭を拝見している間も暑い。普段見ることのない一般のお家のお庭を見せていただくのは楽しかったですが、とにかく暑すぎて、８軒くらい見て終わりにしました。実は、このオープン・ガーデンは多分わたしたちが住み始めた頃から催されていて毎年のようにサインを見かけていたのですが（来てすぐの夏はコロナで多分催されていなかったとは思いますが）、いつも忘れてしまい、去年は早い時期に思い出して行きたいと思って調べたのですがなぜだか去年は催されなかったのです、なので今年は参加出来て良かったです。１人６ポンド（１２８０円）でした。いろいろな町や村で夏に行われているようです。
There was “Open Gardens” event in our little village today. Out of 18 gardens, we visited 9. Although it was fun to see them it was so hot today! At first it was comfortable, we thought, to walk in the shade slowly but as we walked it felt hotter and hotter. Besides the gardens are mostly facing south so not much shades in their gardens so there was no break from the sun. I was using my parasol but it still felt very hot. I think they had Open Gardens nearly every year since we moved here (although probably not the first year because of the covid) and we used to see the signs and I would think we should join but I always forgot when the time came. Last year I did remember and tried to find the details but for some reason they didn’t have one last year. It was £6 per person. I think Open Gardens are held in many villages and towns all over the UK in summer.

Although I took more photos, I feel uncomfortable to post photos of people’s gardens without asking for their permissions so I will post just a couple of photos of pots of flowers.
寄せ植えと言えば、我が家のポットは今年はまだ植え付けていないのです、早くしなければ。
This year we haven’t planted our pots! We really should as soon as possible.
