夫は今日、出張先から夜便で早朝に到着し、シャワーを浴びて出勤。ということで、１週間以上ぶりで夫とディナー。疲れているだろうからカジュアルなところにと思うもののなかなか良いところが思い浮かばず、いつもならこんなとき、大阪キッチンに行くのですが、前回の不快な事件以来足が遠のいています、今のスタッフだと行く気がしない。どうしようかと思っていた時にお友達とチャットして「なんじゃもんじゃは？」と提案してくださったので、なんじゃもんじゃに行きました。嫌いなわけではないけれどたまにしか行かないので忘れているところっていくつかありますが、そんな中の１つ。
My husband came back from his business trip early this morning, came home, took a shower and went out to work. Because of my Vietnam trip and his business in Taiwan, It’s been more than a week since I had dinner with my husband; it’s lovely to have him back. I tried to think of somewhere for dinner that is casual and comfortable because I thought he might be tired and wouldn’t like to go somewhere posh. I would have chosen Osaka Kitchen before but we haven’t been back since the unpleasant incident last time as it doesn’t seem the same with the current staff. Whilst I was trying to think of somewhere a friend sent me a message so we started chatting and she suggested Nanjya Monjya. It’s one of those places I don’t dislike but I tend to forget about because we don’t go there often.
焼き餃子。すごく美味しいというのではないですが、少なくとも外がカリッと焼けていました。たれが魚臭かったですけど。。。
Pot sticker (Yaki-gyoza). Although it’s not fantastic, at least the outside is nice and crispy. I didn’t like their sauce as it was a bit fishy.
トマトと豆腐のサラダ。わたしには和風ドレッシングの魚臭さが気になりましたが、普通に美味しいと思います。
Tomato & Tofu Salad. I wasn’t keen on their dressing (because fish stock is used) but otherwise it was good.
ソバメシ。脂っこかったのと、一部シーフード臭いところがありました。天かすがイカ天かすなのかな？
Soba-meshi. A little too oily and I also detected something very fishy. I guess they uses squid batter…
クリームコロッケ。でも、これはクリームコロッケではなく、ほぼじゃがいもコロッケでした。クリームコロッケって、とろっとしますよね？これは、全然とろっとせず。
Cream coquette. I don’t think this is really cream croquette. As far as I know cream coquette’s filling should be very soft and almost runny. This was more like potato croquette.
豚玉。この後出てくるまですごく待ってお腹が膨れてしまい、まだだったらキャンセルさせて欲しいとお伝えしたのですがちょうどもう少しで焼きあがると言われたのでキャンセルできず。で、以前はおいしいと思ったのですが、今日は美味しくなかった。生地がほとんど入っていなくてぽろぽろと崩れてしまい、キャベツを食べている感じでした。残念！
Pork & egg Okonomi-yaki. After the above croquettes, we were made to wait for a long time, during which time we got very full. After waiting for a while, we asked if we can cancel the order but they told us it was already being prepared. I remember I liked their Okonomi-yaki before but I didn’t like this one, it didn’t have much batter, it was mostly cabbage, too crumbly.
ビールをジャグでオーダーして、お会計１２０ドルくらいとシンガポールとしてはお安いと思います。メニューも多いですし、そこそこ美味しいですし、まずまずかな。カジュアルなところで食べたい時に良いと思います。ただ、今日座った席、真上に空調があったのに全然効かず暑くて暑くて。。。外に出たら外の方が風があって涼しかったです。
We also had a jug of draft beer and the total bill was about S$120, which is reasonable in Singapore. Their menu is very large, the quality is so-so and it’s not expensive, so it’s good when you want to eat bits and pieces in a casual place. The only thing is, though, it was very hot where we sat. I saw there was an air-conditioning outlet right above us but it wasn’t working very well. It was cooler outside because of the breeze!!
