ブリストルはイギリスでは大きな町で人口も大きいのでレストランやカフェがたくさんあり、街を歩いていて人が多くて活気があってとても良いところでした。お買い物に関しては、ブランドものはほとんどなくクリスマスのように特別な時に買いたいと思うものはわたしにとってはなかったですが、普段のお買い物には十分なように思いました。ただ、ロンドンの Borough Market のように食品屋さんがたくさん集まっているようなところがなさそうなのは残念でした。セント・ニコラスマーケットはランチにちょっと食べるようなお店はたくさんありましたが、他はほとんどが手作りのものなどを売っていて食べ物はほとんど見かけませんでした。
As Bristol is a large city in England and the population is relatively large, there were many restaurants and cafes, which is lovely. The city felt very lively with lots of people (specially being close to Christmas, I guess), and we enjoyed that. As for shopping, there are many shops so it’s good for every day shopping, but there were hardly any designer brand shops so not for special occasions like Christmas for me. I also wanted to go to a place, where you can see lots of good quality groceries like Borough Market in London but we didn’t find any. St Nicholas Market had a lot of food stands for lunch but shops there were mostly handicrafts, not much food.
美味しいものを食べるのが好きな私たちにとっては、レストランやカフェがたくさんあるのはとても魅力的ですし、クリスマスの雰囲気も楽しめて楽しかったです。田舎に住んでいるので、やっぱり都会は良いな〜と感じました。
As we love eating tasty food, we liked the fact that there are many restaurants/cafes to choose from and we enjoyed the Christmassy atmosphere very much. As we live in the country a side, we really enjoyed being in the city.
