コルフ島(ケルケラ島)へはBA8時25分発で来ました。出発は遅れましたが、飛行中にほぼ取り戻してギリシャ時間の2時前に到着(2時間英国より早い)。手配していたお迎えの車でコルフ島のオールドタウンまで10分くらいとすぐでした。車から降りると宿泊先のアパートメントメントの方が迎えに来て下さっていて、そこからスーツケースを押してアパートメントまで。(オールドタウンの中は車が入れない。)
Our flight to Corfu this morning was BA departing at 8:25, which was delayed but caught up mostly during the flight and arrived in Corfu a little before 14:00 local time (which is 2 hours ahead of the UK). We were met by the driver of the car arranged for us and taken to Old Town in Corfu, where we were met by the staff of the apartment we are staying at for the next 5 nights. We had to push our suitcases through some cobbled streets to get to the apartment because no cars are allowed inside the old town.
狭いですが、オールドタウンを歩くにはとても便利なところにありますし、2人用のソファー、小さなテーブルと椅子2つ、小さなシンク付きのキチネットがあります。
It’s quite a small room but at least there is a sofa for two and a small table with 2 chairs as well as a little kitchenette for making coffee or tea and washing fruits etc.
とりあえず、お部屋に荷物を置いて遅いランチを食べに出ることにしました。アパートメントのスタッフの方にお勧めのレストランをお聞きして、歩いて5分くらいのところにある「Rex」というレストランに。夫は、リガトーニのナポリタン（トマトソース）、わたしはビーフハンバーグの上に茄子とパルメジャーノのホワイトソースが乗ったもの。パスタは塩分が足らず、余り味なし。ハンバーグは、まぁまぁ、でしたが、一体何人分？と思う大きさのハンバーグ（笑）。日本で普通に出てくるものの4倍くらいあったのでは。
ワイン1杯ずつとガス入りのお水大きな瓶1ほんとで、65 Euro (10,600円）。
After dropping off our luggage at the apartment, we decided to go and have a late lunch. We went to “Rex”, which was very near us and was recommended bny the staff of the apartment. My husband had Rigatoni with Napolitana sauce and I had Beef Hamberg with aubergine & a Parmesan cheese bechamel sauce. The pasta didn’t have enough seasoning so it didn’t taste of anything much. The beef hamburg was so-so but it was just too big! I think it’d feed 4 Japanese!
We had a glass of white wine each and shared a large bottle of sparkling water; the bill was 65 Euro including tip.
ちょうど、わたしたちが春に乗ったクルーズ、バイキングのツアーの方たちが通りました。
Just when I was taking this photo, a group of Viking Cruise passsengers walked past (we took a Viking Cruise which stopped in Corfu in the spring).
どちらも半分以上残しました。お腹はいっぱいでしたが、なんとなく物足らず、すぐ近くにあったジェラート屋さんでデザートにジェラート。夫は塩キャラメル、わたしはピスタチオ。美味しかったです。そして、これも量が多くて、これで1スクープです。
We swapped dishes halfway through but left about a half each. We were very full but wanted to have something nice so went and had gelato at a gelato shop near the restaurant. My husband had Salted Caramel and I had Pistachio – very nice. The portions are so big here, too – this is one scoop!.
辺りの様子は、こういう感じ。素敵というよりも雑多で面白い雰囲気です。
The area is like this. I cannot say it’s beautiful and pretty but it is quite charming.
ランチが終わってアパートメントに戻ったのが4時ごろで、しばらくネットをしたりしていたのですが堪らなく眠くなり、わたしは2時間ほど寝てしまいましたが、その間ずっとすごい音で豪雨が降っていて寝ていても聞こえているくらい凄かったです。
It was about 4.00pm when we went back to our apartment and unpacked then did some internet for a while. I kept falling asleep so I had a proper nap for a couple of hours. I woke up now and again and heard the very loud noise of rain, it was raining very heavily for a couple of hours.
8時過ぎ、雨も収まったので近くのワインバーで軽く夕食をすることにしました。ランチが遅かったのでそれほどお腹は空いていなかったので、チキンのギロス（チキンの薄切りと玉ねぎやレタスなどを挟んだラップサンドのようなもの）とスパイシー・ミートボール（全くスパイシーではなかった）をオーダーしてシェアしました。ここもまた、量が多すぎて、完食出来ず。でも、デザートを少し食べてみたくて、「ケーキ」をシェアー。チョコレートケーキ、とか、何々ケーキというものに並んで「ケーキ」とあり、何のケーキか聞いてみましたが、こんなの、と見せてくれただけ。食べてみたら、胡桃入りのスポンジケーキでした。口の中の水分が全部持っていかれる系。赤ワイン杯ずつ、小さなボトルのガス入りのお水1本ずつ、合計43 Euro (7000円）でした。
A little after 8:00pm, we decided to go out and have a light supper in a wine bar very near the apartment. We weren’t that hungry as we had a late lunch so we ordered just 2 small dishes to share – Gyros of chicken and Spicy Meatballs. Well, they weren’t small, really! We couldn’t finish it all. Even though we were pretty full, we did want to try some dessert and had ‘cake’. They had chocolate cake, apple crumble etc but one of them was just called ‘cake’ on the menu. I asked what sort of a cake it was but they couldn’t say, they just showed it to us. It was just sponge cake with walnuts. Quite dry so all the moisture in your mouth was sucked up by it. We had a glass of red wine and a small bottle of sparkling water each and the total bill was 43 Euro.
