今日は２週間に１度のアランデルでの刺繍の会の集まりがあり、お隣のお友達と一緒に出掛けてアランデルのティールーム「The Cockburn’s Tea Rooms」でランチをしてから刺繍の会に参加しました。ランチは、ベーコン＆ブリーのホットサンド、美味しかったです。
There was an embroidery gathering in Arundel, which is held every two weeks, so I joined them with my next door neighbour after we had lunch in “The Cockburn’s Tea Rooms” in Arundel. I had “Bacon & Brie” toasties. Very nice.
刺繍は少し前に参加したワークショップで始めた「スティッチ・スケープ」をしています。元々不器用なのもありますが、最近は縫い物をほとんどしていないのでなかなか綺麗に刺繍が出来ません。こういう手仕事はやはり続けているうちに手が覚えるものなので、たまにしかしないと綺麗に出来ないんですよね。でも、まぁ、それがあまり気にならないタイプの刺繍なのであまり細かいところを気にせずに楽しむようにしています。今日は一番下のシュッとした植物の刺繍を始めました、もう直ぐ完成。
I’m working on the “Stitchscape” that I started a few weeks ago at a workshop. I’m not good at delicate work like embroidery but also I haven’t done it much for a long long time. I find you do need to keep working at this sort of work to get better, as you do your fingers learn the technique. Still, I’m trying not to get caught up with how untidy each stitch is and enjoy the process, because I feel it’s quite a forgiving type of embroidery. I started the last part of it, which is the long plants on the bottom, today, and it’ll be done very soon.
