今日は、やっと「時差ぼけ（？）」がなくなったような気がしています。昨日まではお昼過ぎから妙に眠かったのでした。
I’m finally feeling normal today. I was feeling as if I had jet-lag (though I don’t think I did as the time difference with Istanbul was only 2 hours) and was feeling so sleepy in the afternoons until today.
しばらく前にフランス菓子教室で教えていただいたバクラバ風チーズケーキをお友達にディナーに呼んでいただいた時にデザートにお持ちしたのですが、その時、お友達が「フィロペーストリーは使ったことがないわ、今度使い方を教えて！」と言われたので、じゃあ、バクラバ風チーズケーキと一緒に習ったリークのキッシュを一緒に焼きましょう、ということになりました（フランス菓子教室の先生にも許可をいただいています）。ただ、お友達ご夫婦がとてもお忙しくてなかなかお２人共揃って空いた日がなく、ご主人はお出かけだけどお友達は空いているという今日、一緒に焼くことになりました。
A little while ago we were invited to dinner by our friends and we took along a Baklava style cheese cake for dessert that I learned at French Baking Class. My friend said she’d never used filo as she felt intimidated and wanted me to show her how to use it, so I said we can bake Leek Quiche that I also learned at the French Baking Class together. However, our friends are so busy they couldn’t find a day when they were both free so we chose today, when just my friend was free.
ということで、一緒に１台ずつ焼きました。とっても簡単なのでオーブンに入れるまでは楽勝だったのですが、焼けたあと、お友達のは一部、型にくっついた部分があって（ほんの少しだけですが液が漏れたみたいです）型から外すのが難しかったです。が、なんとか外せました!１人１つずつ焼いて、１つはお友達と夫と３人で分けて、サラダと一緒にランチにいただき、もう１つはお友達に持ち帰っていただいたので、ご主人と召し上がると思います。型から出すのはちょっと苦戦しましたが、とても美味しく焼けていてほっとしました。
So we baked one quiche each. The recipe is really easy so it went fine until we put them in the oven and they looked good when they came out – only then we found my friend’s quiche was stuck in the metal ring, the leek mixture leaked very very little, which made it stick to the metal ring. We struggled but did manage to take it out eventually without breaking it! We (my husband, my friend and I) shared the one I baked and had it for lunch with a salad, it tasted very nice, I’m happy to say.
フィロは乾燥させないことと引っ張ったりして破かないことさえ気をつければ、大きな失敗なく使えるので、お友達も簡単さがわかって良かったと思います。
As long as you don’t let filo dry out or break by pulling it, it’s really easy to use so I’m sure my friend isn’t intimidated any more.
今日は、また、すごく良いお天気だったので、ランチは今年初めてお庭でしました。午前中は陽が当たって暑いくらいでしたが、ちょうど食べる頃には日陰が出来ていて、気持ちよく食事が出来ました。ランチが終わってお友達が帰られる頃には少し曇っていたので、一番良いお天気の時にお庭でランチが出来て良かったです。キャッチアップも出来て、楽しいひとときでした。
It was a lovely sunny day again so we had lunch on the patio. It was too hot in the morning but by the time we had lunch the table area was in the shade so it was very pleasant. After lunch, when our friend was leaving, the weather had changed and had become quite cloudy, so we definitely had the best of the weather at lunch time. It was great to catch up with her over lunch, too.
