今日は、夫の弟夫婦とキャッチアップのランチをして来ました。義弟夫婦はウィンザーに住んでいるので、大体真ん中あたりで落ち合うことが多く、今回は Elstead というところにある「The Mill」で落ち合いました。
We had a catch-up lunch with my husband’s younger brother and his wife. As they live in Windsor, we often meet somewhere in between and this time we met at “The Mill” at Elstead.
カリフラワーのフリッター、というのを夫とシェアーしました。（義弟夫婦も、同じものをシェアー。）脂っこくはなかったのですが、あまり味がしなかった。塩胡椒が足りていなかったのと、メニューには胡麻、チリ、カシューナッツソースとあったのですが、ほんの少しのカシューナッツソースが敷いてあったもののあまり味はせず、チリも申し訳程度。スパイシーなソースをつけて食べるのを想像していたので、思っていたのとは違いました。
To start my husband and I shared Cauliflower Fritters with sesame, chilli, and cashew nut sauce. (My brother-in-law and his wife also shared the same dish.) It wasn’t greasy so not bad but it didn’t taste of anything very much, it needed more seasoning. Also I was expecting to dip it in some spicy sauce but there was very little sauce with very little taste.
ビーフの脛肉のラザニアとチキンバーガーを夫とシェアしました。こちらが、ラザニア。こうして写真で見るとそうは見えませんが、結構なボリュームでした。これも悪くはないのですが結構ドライで飽きちゃう感じ。
My husband and I shared Beef Shin Lasagne and Chicken Burger. This is the Lasagne. It doesn’t look so on the photo but it was quite a large portion. Again, it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great, it was quite dry so you get tired of it quickly.
チキンバーガーのチキンもやはりあまり味がなく（しっかりお塩をしてから焼いて欲しい）、焼きすぎて固め。ソースは美味しかったです。
The chicken in chicken burger also needed more seasoning. I wish people would cook meat with salt! It was also dry because it was over cooked. The sauce was good, though.
わたしたちはコンサーバトリーに座りましたが、広いお庭もありました。今日は晴天で暑くて、日陰でなければ座れない暑さでした。
We sat in the conservatory but there was also a large garden. It was beautiful weather but too hot to sit under the sun.
デザートは、ジンジャー、オレンジ、ルバーブのクランブルをシェアー。これも、まぁまぁ。
We shared Ginger, Orange & Rhubarb Crumble for a dessert, which was also only so-so.
２人はビール、１人はワイン１杯、３人が食後の飲み物もいただいて、チップを入れて１組75ポンド（１４５３０円）、イギリスではかなりお安いと思います。
Two of us had a beer, one of us had a glass of wine, 3 of us had tea/coffee after the meal and it was £75 per couple with tips, which is very reasonable for England.
あれこれ楽しくお喋りをして、気がつけば、３時間半経っていました。とにかく、みんなが元気でいられるのが何よりと思う今日この頃。
We enjoyed catching up with each other over the lunch, three and a half hours had gone when we left the pub. We are grateful that everyone in the families are well these days.
帰りの車から、我が家の近くで撮った景色。抜けるような青空とはこのこと。この時期のお天気が良い時のイギリスは、本当に美しいです。
