昨日はお友達にピックアップしていただいてクリスマスリースのワークショップに参加した後、そのままお友達のお車でお友達のお宅に連れて行っていただき、お友達のご主人と夫と合流して、ディナーをご一緒しました。まだ１２月初めですが、今お目にかかる方達と次回お目にかかるのは多分来年になるので、一応これがクリスマス・ディナー。なかなか行きたいと思えるレストランを思いつけず、最近更にそこそこ良いレストランの価格が上がって、そこまで出してどうかなと思ったりもするので、昨日はお友達のお家の近くにパブに行ってみることにしました。お友達ご夫婦もわたしたちも初めて行った「Anglesey Arms」というパブ。
My friend picked me up and we took the Christmas Wreath Workshop as I mentioned previously, then she took me back to her place, where we got together with her husband and my husband so we could all go together for a dinner. Although it’s only very early December, it was a Christmas dinner because people we meet this time of year are all very busy and we won’t be seeing them again until the New Year. None of us could think of any restaurant we wanted to go to and we felt all the ‘good’ restaurants have put their prices up so much recently and they aren’t really worth what they charge. In the end we decided to try a pub that was near our friends’ that none of us had been to called the Anglesey Arms.
お友達ご夫婦は、前菜にラムのボンボンをシェアーされました、美味しかったようでした。
Our friends shared Lamb Bon Bon for a starter, which they said was very good.
わたしたちは、「おつまみ」のカテゴリーから「味噌バドロン・ペッパー」をシェアーしました。味噌に魅かれて決めたのですが、お味噌の味はほぼせず、そのまま焼いただけ、な感じではありましたが、まぁ、普通に美味しかったです。おつまみのわりにたくさんあって、びっくり。
My husband and I shared “Miso Padron Peppers” from the menu’s “nibbles” category. We were curious because of the inclusion of ‘miso’ but I have to say we couldn’t really taste miso. They tasted mostly just of grilled pepper, which was fine. There were quite a a lot of them as “nibbles”.
お友達ご主人は、鹿肉。美味しかったようでした。
For his main our friend’s husband had Venison, which he seemed to have enjoyed.
夫は、ビーフとエールのパイ、少し味見しましたが美味しかったです。
My husband had Beef & Ale Pie – I had a little taste and it was very good.
わたしとお友達は、ターキーのローストディナー。多分ターキーは前日とかもっと前に焼いてあるのだと思います、わたしには臭みが強くて少ししか食べられず、お友達は美味しいとおっしゃっていました。パースニップは焼き足らずゴリゴリ、黒い人参はおいしかったですが、ローストポテトはふにゃふにゃで残念。
Our friend and I both had the Turkey Roast Dinner. I guess they cook turkey on the day before or earlier, it was very gamy and strong so I wasn’t able to eat much of it but our friend said she didn’t mind and it was fine for her. Parsnips were very under-done and hard in the middle and not caramelised, black carrots were good but roast potatoes were pretty bad, very soft and not crispy at all.
デザートは、２組ともスティッキー・トフィー・プディングをシェアー。頭が痛くなりそうなくらい甘かったです。
We both shared Sticky Toffee Pudding for a dessert which was extremely sweet.
