少し前に親しいお友達とキャッチアップをしていた時にわたしたちが３週間前に行ったライブ・ジャズの話しになり、お友達ご夫婦もジャズがお好きということで、昨日ご一緒することになりました。せっかくなのでライブの前に夕食もということで、すごく早い時間にチチェスターの Brasserie Blanc で夕食をしました。ライブは７時４５分からなのですが遅くなるとプレイヤーの方達がほとんど見えない席になるので早めに行くことしして、ディナータイムが始まる５時に予約を入れました。少し早すぎるかとも思ったのですが、結果的にはそれでも良い席はもう埋まっていて前回と同じくらいの席になったので、早く行って良かったです。お友達と一緒だとお話をしながらの食事になるので、結構時間がかかるんですよね。
When we were chatting with one of our good friends a little while ago, we talked about the live jazz we’d been to about 3 weeks ago and we made a plan to go there with her and her husband yesterday. We decided to have an early dinner before the live jazz and went to Brasserie Blanc in Chichester. They start serving dinner at 5:00pm and we booked a table at 5:00pm. We wondered if it would be too early but, as we all do, we tend to chat a lot when we are with friends and it took quite a long time to finish our dinner, so it was good to book early. The performance starts at 7:45pm but good seats get taken early and quite a large number of the seats are not good as you cannot see the performance. We were there about an hour before the performance started but the best seats were taken already although the seats we did get weren’t too bad.
夫の前菜はいつものエスカルゴ。
My husband had his usual Escargot for a starter.
わたしもいつもの（他に食べられるものがない）ビーツのテリーヌ。
I also had my usual (I cannot find anything other starter I can eat) Beet Terrine for a starter.
夫のメインは、トラウト、サイドにヒスピキャベツの焼いたもの。
My husband had Trout for the main with a side dish of Hispi Cabbage.
ピントがキャンドルに合ってしまっていますが、わたしはバーガー。びっくりしたのが、以前はスタンダードでついていたチョリソケチャップに追加料金がつくようになっていました。
The focus is somehow on the candle but I ordered a burger. I was shocked that they now charge for chorizo ketchup that used to come with the burger.
デザートはいつものようにピスタチオスフレをシェアーしました。
We shared Pistachio Soufflé for a dessert like we almost always do.
夫のメンバーシップの特典で４人ともにワインが１杯ずついただけました。わたしと夫はガス入りのお水をシェアー。お会計は大体１組70ポンドずつくらいでした。
With my husband’s membership points we were given a glass of wine each. My husband and I also shared a bottle of sparkling water and it was about £70 per couple.
ディナーの後は、３週間前にも買いたチチェスター・ジャズ・クラブにジャズを聴きに行きました。以前も書きましたが、ジャズクラブとはなっているものの市民会館の１部屋の隅っこにバーがある、という感じ。そして、観客層はかなり高齢です。
ですが、演奏は前回も今回もとても良かったです。今回は、「John Law Quartet – Re-Creations」でした。お友達ご夫婦もとても良かったとおっしゃっていました、スケジュールが合えばこれからも行く予定です。
We really enjoyed the jazz club performance last time and this week very much. Yesterday, it was “John Law Quartet – Re-Creations”. Our friends also enjoyed it very much, I’m glad to say. I’m sure we’ll go again when we can.
