今日は１週間ぶりくらいで良いお天気になったので、お庭仕事をしました。夫は朝早くから頑張って、フロントガーデンにクロッカスを１０００個植えてくれました。以前も書きましたが、植えてくれるはずだったガーデナーさんが急に転職してしまったのです。それでも球根は植えに来るとおっしゃっていましたが、プッシュしてプッシュしてやっと２週間ほど前だったかに来てくれて水仙とアリウムは植えてくれたものの、その時点でまだソーラーパネルを設置するための足場が組まれていて、足場を支えている木の板のようなものが邪魔なので足場が撤去されてから来るとおっしゃったまま来ていただけず、ご連絡を入れてもお返事がないままなので痺れを切らせて夫が植えてくれたという次第です。数時間の作業で大変だったと思います。
そして、午後からわたしがバックガーデンのマルチングをやっとやっと終わらせることが出来ました。マルチングも本来ならガーデナーさんがしてくれるお仕事だったのですが、仕方ありません。まだ腰が危なっかしいのですが、どんどん球根の芽が出てきているので終わらせてしまいました。運ぶのは重かったので夫が袋に入ったコンポストを必要なところの近くまで運んでくれたものを、わたしが撒いて広げる作業をしました。やっと終わって、本当にほっとしました、夢に見る程気になっていたのです。まだフロントガーデンが少し残っていますが、バックガーデンは終わりました。コンポストは全部で６５袋くらい使いました。明日、腰が痛くならないことを祈るのみ。
We had a nice sunny day today, I think the last time when we saw the sun was on Boxing Day. So, we did some gardening. My husband planted 1000 crocus bulbs in the front garden. Like I wrote before our gardener changed his job suddenly sometime in November, I think. He told us he would come and plant the bulbs as he’d promised but we needed to push him so many times before he finally came to plant them. Although he planted narcissus and alliums, he told us he would come back to plant the crocuses after the scaffolding had been taken down because the bases of the poles were taking too much space. After the scaffolding was taken down, my husband messaged him a few times but he hadn’t even replied and the time is ticking so my husband planted them today – it must’ve been a big job to plant 1,000 of them, it took him a few hours.
I also did some more mulching of our back garden in the afternoon and finally finished it all! The gardener was supposed to do this job also but as he isn’t coming any longer we had to. My back is still a bit dodgy so I didn’t want to carry the compost for a long distance so my husband brought the bags close to where they were needed so I could just open and empty them here and there and spread the compost. I am so relieved that we finished it because it has been stressing me out, so much so that I even dreamed about it. We used about 65 bags in total. There is a little bit more to do in the front garden but the back garden has been finished. I hope my back will be OK tomorrow.
今日の夕食は、大晦日のビーフシチューでソースだけが余ったので、パンチェッタと玉ねぎとニンニクを炒めたあと、ビーフシチューのソースと冷凍していたトマトソースを加えて少しだけ煮たものをペンネと和えたところに、具がほとんどなかったので小さなモッツァレラのボールをいくつか加えました。
Today’s dinner was Penne with a very simple sauce. I sautéed pancetta, onion and garlic together, then added some of the left-over sauce from the slow cooked beef we had on New Year’s Eve and some left over tomato sauce, mixed it with cooked Penne, and added a few small mozzarella balls.
