今日の夕食は、ミネストローネ。旅行中、野菜、果物不足を感じていたのでお野菜がたっぷり摂れるミネストローネにしました。旅行中はご馳走サラダ的なものも食べる機会がなかったのでサラダも考えたのですが、なんせ、寒いんです。最高気温９度、最低気温３度、冬です、冬。旅行中暖かい日が続いたので（というより後半は暑かった）気分的に夏の気分でしたが、ここはまだ冬でした。ちなみに、わたしたちが行ったところがこの時期にあれだけ気温が高いのは珍しいらしく、ヒートウェーブだったようで、来週は寒くなるらしいです。
Today’s dinner was Minestrone Soup. During the holiday, we didn’t have much chance to have plenty of vegetables and fruits so I wanted something where we can have a lot of vegetables today. I was also craving for a big salad that you can have as a main, but it just feels too cold to have something like that here. It was 9C highest and apparently will be 3C the lowest, it’s still winter! Incidentally, apparently, getting that warm in the places where we were in the second half of our holiday was very unusual, it was a heatwave, but we were told it’ll get cold next week (which is also unusual).
気温的にはまだ冬なのですが、気付いたのは旅行中に夏時間になったお陰で、夕食の時間に外が明るい！
Although it does still seem winter here in terms of the temperature, I noticed that outside was still light when we were having dinner because the clocks went forward while we were away. It is much nicer that it stays light until later now.
スープに入れたのは、玉ねぎ、ニンニク、セロリ、にんじん、キャベツ、ポテト、缶トマト、ベイリーフ、パルメジャンチーズの端っこ（皮のところ）。パルメジャンチーズはその都度削っていれますが、普段、皮の部分を捨てがちです。以前、スープに入れて香り付けに使うと聞いたことがあったので入れてみたら、その通り、全体にパルメジャーノの香りがして美味しかったです。上からも削って加えますが、コクが出るように思いました。
In the soup I used onion, garlic, celery, carrot,cabbage, potato, tin tomato, bay leaf and the skin of Parmesan cheese (well, we are using Pecorino because we still have the block we bought in Rome a year ago). We tend to throw away the skin of Parmesan cheese but I’ve read that adding it to a soup will flavour the soup so I tried it today and found it really did. I did grate some more on top but the soup seemed to have extra depth of flavour before I added grated cheese.
お水用のグラスに使っているこのブラックにシルバーとゴールドのきらきらの入ったものは、ムラノで今回買ったムラノグラスです。お買い物はあまりしなかったのですが、何か記念になるものが欲しいなと思い、夫もわたしも気に入ったこのグラスを購入しました。これは２つしかなかったので同じデザインの細目で背が少し高いものを２つ購入し、お客様との食事の時は混ぜて使おうと思っています。せっかく遠くから運んで来たので長く使いたく、洗うときに緊張してしまいます、とても薄くて軽いので余計に。
These black glasses with some silver and gold speckles that we are using for water are what we bought in a shop in Murano. We didn’t do much shopping but I was hoping we’ll be able to buy something we can use from the holiday and as we both liked these we bought them. They had only two of these so we bought 2 more of the same design but a little narrower and taller ones. I would like to use them for a long time since we brought them all the way from Venice so I feel a little nervous when I wash them specially because these are extremely thin and light.
