ベニスでの最後の２日間のことも早くアップしたいのですが、旅行に出発した３月末と今のお庭の状態がかなり違うので、旬なうちにアップしておきたいと思い、先にお庭のアップデートをしようと思います。
桜が満開で散り始めていて、水仙もほぼピーク、勿忘草やアネモネが咲き始め、チューリップは奥のポットはだいぶん咲いていましたが手前のポットや表玄関のポットはやっと蕾に色がつき始めていたところでした。紅葉もまだまだ葉っぱが開いていません。ピオニーもやっと芽が出て少し伸び始めたところでした。
I’d like to blog the last two days in Venice but before that I’m going to show the difference between our garden when we left for the holiday and when we came back, because it looks so different.
The cherry blossom was full and was already starting to fall off. The narcissus were at their peak, forget-me-not and anemone had just started to bloom. The tulips in the far patio were already looking quite open but those in the closer patio were still in buds and had just started to colour. The Japanese maple tree’s leaves hadn’t opened at all. The peonie shoots had started to get taller, too.
で、戻って来たら、こんなになってました。ビデオや写真を撮った後で草抜きをしたので、今はもう少し綺麗になっています。
This is how the garden is looking now. After taking the video and photos I did weeding and tidying up so it’s looking a little nicer now, too.
真っ先に目についたのは、モックオレンジの白いお花。写真で見るよりも目立ちます。四角いポットに入った義弟夫婦からいただいた薔薇もずいぶん背が伸びていました。ここに置いていると大きくなると通れなくなりそうなので、今日、場所を移動させました。
The first thing we noticed was the white flowers of mock orange, they are in full bloom now and very prominent, more so than the photos show. The new roses in square pots (that my husband’s brother and his wife gave us) are looking much taller and have some little buds already. After I took the video and the photos, we decided to move them to the side because we thought when the roses are grown we may not be able to walk through between them.
奥のパティオのチューリップは行く前に結構咲いていたので、もう限界、な感じで開ききっています。
The tulips in the pots on the far patio were already out when we left for the holiday so they look they are at the end of their lives, completely open and petals look ready to fall off.
近い方のパティオのチューリップは、今が盛り、まだ少し開いていないのもありますが。
The tulips in the closer patio are looking beautiful now, there are some that haven’t opened but many are quite open.
表玄関のチューリップは、もう終わりかけ。
The tulips in the front are nearly finished.
家の中からは見えないところ、リビングルームのすぐ外に長方形のポットを２つ置いていて、余った原種のチューリップを植えました。背が高くて大きなのは多分去年植えたものだと思います。植え替えの時に土を全部変えなかったので、多分、少し球根が残っていたのだと思います。
We have 2 rectangular pots right outside our living room and planted them with small tulips that are supposed to naturalise because we had too many to plant in the flower beds. I think the taller and larger orange ones were what we planted last year. When we planted this year in January, we didn’t change all the soil so some bulbs were probably left.
お庭のあちらこちらに、昔、お庭のリノベーションをする前に植えたチューリップと今年初めに植えた小さな原種のチューリップも咲いています。上の長方形のポットの小さなのと下の最初の写真が原種のチューリップ。
There are different types of tulips here and there in the flower beds, they are the ones my husband planted before we had our garden renovated. The small ones that are supposed to naturalise are also out, same as the small ones in the above photo.
アネモネは旅行前よりは咲いていますが、あまり増えません。ナメクジが大好きだそうなので、食べられているのかも。
Although there are more anemones than when we left for holiday but not so many. Apparently slugs love them so maybe they are eating them.
モックオレンジの他にびっくりしたのが、ビバーナム。出発する前は葉っぱが出てた？くらいなのですが、もこもこと育っていました。去年に比べて大きく育ちましたし、お花もたくさんつきました。
As well as mock oranges, we were surprised to see the viburnums. I think there were some leaves maybe when we left but they’ve gone so tall and full, much more full and so many more flowers than last year.
アリウムは、旅行前にやっと小さな小さな蕾がつき始めていましたが、ずいぶん大きくなって、最初の２つが少し開き始めています。
When we left I saw tiny buds of alliums but now they are much taller and larger and we found 2 flowers slowly opening.
ピオニーもびっくりするほど背が高くなっていて、蕾もつけています。２カ所に３つずつ植えています。
Peonies had grown much taller, too, and already have buds. We have 3 each in 2 places and they are all looking good.
数カ所に植えた勿忘草もふんわりと育っています。
Forget-me-not are also looking nice and full.
水仙は、遅く咲き始めたこの種類だけが残っています。
Just this type of narcissus are still out now, they had just started to flower whee we left.
鈴蘭も咲いています、たくさん植えたのですがあまり数は出て来なくて残念です。去年、また植えたので今年は去年よりは出ているようですし、大きくなっています。
Lily-of-the-vally are also in bloom. We had many planted but not many seem to have survived, we had some more last year so there are more than last year and they seem larger as well.
藤の花も咲き始めていますが、一度にたくさん咲かないので写真を撮ってもあまりきれいじゃないのです。
Wisterias also flowering, but they don’t flower at the same time and there aren’t that many flowers yet so they aren’t as visible as I would like them to be.
フロントガーデンはあまり変化がないのですが、ライラックの蕾がついていました。写真は撮らなかったのですが、クレマチスも今年はずいぶんたくさんお花をつけています。
Not a lot of changes in the front garden but lilacs have buds now. I didn’t take a photo but a lot of clematis flowers are out, too – but they are quiet colour and shape so not so visible.
