今日もお友達とキャッチアップ。しばらくお目にかかれなかったお友達お２人が、お忙しい中うちに来てくださいました。お２人共午前中からのご用が終わるお時間がランチには遅いのでお茶でもとのことでしたので、じゃあ、簡単なサンドイッチとお茶でもとうちで集まることに。そのあとカードでもとも言っていたので本当にサンドイッチしかご用意しなかったのですが、今日はゆっくりお話だけということに。サンドイッチの写真はありませんが。。。

Another catch-up gathering with 2 friends this afternoon.  These friends were busy in the morning but they suggested we have tea in the afternoon when they are available, so I asked if they would mind coming to my place for simple sandwiches and tea.  It gets hard to get a taxi outside after 3.30pm here specially when it rains but it’s usually easy to get a taxi from my place whatever the time if they need one.  So that’s what we did.

お友達が持って来てくださったフルーツケーキ。気になっていた「Pantler」という元ロブションのパティシエのケーキ屋さんのフルーツケーキをお手土産に持ってきてくださいました。ナッツやドライイチジク、スパイスが入ったフルーツケーキで、とても美味しかったです。

One friend brought a fruit cake from “Pantler”.  This Japanese patissier used to work at Joel Ronuchon restaurant. It has some dried figs, nuts and spices – very nice.

他に今回の旅行で飛行機をトランスファーで降りたドーハの空港で買ったデイツ（中にアーモンドを詰めました）、ロンドンで買ってきたLa Maison du Chocolat や Artisan du Chocolat、Pierre Marcoliniのチョコレート（夫が仕事をしていた最終日の午前中、一人で買いに走ったのです、夫がいたら両手いっぱいチョコレートは買えなかったかも？笑　シンガポールには美味しいチョコレートが余りないのです）、フォートナム＆メイソンで買ってきたフルーツパテ、もうお１人のお友達からタイからのお土産といただいたバナナチップスにタマリンドを挟んだものなどあれこれいただきながらお茶を飲み、たくさんおしゃべりしてたくさん笑って、今日も楽しかったです。

今日はスタートが１時半以降ということでサンドイッチでしたが、次回はちゃんとランチを作りますのでまたいらしてくださいね！

We also had some dates (with almonds) that I bought at Doha airport,  chocolates that I bought in London (I bought Maison du Chocolat, Artisan du Chocolat & Pierre Marcolini’s chocolates in the morning on our last day in London while my husband was working because you cannot get such high quality chocolates here), a Fruit pate that I bought in Fortnum  and Masons, and some banana & tamarind chips another friend brought from Thailand.  We talked a lot and laughed a lot as we often do and had a great catch up.

ちなみに、この Pierre Marcolini’s のチョコレート、クリスマススペシャルだと聞きましたが、宝石みたいで綺麗なのです。でも、スーツケースに入れてきたので乱れています。直してから写真を撮れば良かった（笑）。こんなになっていてもお友達にお出ししたらとても喜んでいただけました。遠慮されて１つぶずつしか召し上がりませんでしたが（笑）、チョコレート１粒であんなに喜べるのは女性ならではでしょうか？それも日本女性ならではという気がします。日本の方以外でチョコレートのメーカーを色々ご存知の方、そう多くないような。。。日本のみなさんよくご存知。シンガポールにはないですしね。ちなみにわたくし、日本を出て疎いので色々な分野で比較的最近有名になったメーカに大変疎いです。情報があまり入ってこないので。。。

The chocolate from Pierre Marcolini looks very pretty like some sort of jewel – they told me it’s a Christmas Special Version.  I should have put them right before taking the photo – as I put all the chocolates in the suitcase when we flew home many of the pieces had come out of their places in the box…

They had only one piece each even though I urged them to have more, but they seemed very happy with just one.  You cannot get this in Singapore so it’s a bit special.  (However, I wonder how many non-Japanese friends would know how special this is, Japanese seem to know all the good things… I’m out of touch so I don’t know many.)
