Japan Holiday / Hot Dog

昨日はお昼にお友達のお宅です沢山ご馳走になったので、夜は数日前に買って余っていたフランスパンに先日イカリで買ったトアロードデリカテッセンのソーセージを挟んだだけのホットドッグ擬き。これでもなかなか美味しかったです。この後、柿をデザートに頂きました。 We had a lovely big lunch at my friend’s so we had something quick in the evening. Wedding Anniversary

今日は35回目の結婚記念日。カードを交換して、夫からお花も貰いました。お花をもらうのはイギリスに来て初めてなような気がします。そして、カードも作ってくれました(左)！！　可愛い！ It’s our 35th wedding anniversary today. We exchanged cards, and my husband gave me flowers as well! Airport Hotel

昨日はガトウィック空港内にある「Bloc」というホテルに泊まりました。カプセルホテルだからね、とは言われていましたが、冗談だと思っていました、ドアを開けてびっくり。携帯ですが、ワイドで撮ってこの狭さ。トイレとシャワーと洗面台も１つの狭い空間。そして、なぜパープル？ We stayed at a hotel inside the airport “Bloc”. My husband had told me it was going to be a capsule hotel but I thought he was joking, but it was VERY small. The shower, toilet and basin was all in one small room. And why Purple light? でも、前日に荷物のチェックインが出来るし、駐車料金のディスカウントがあるし、セキュリティーまで数秒の距離だし、プライオリティカードも頂けるので我慢の甲斐ありと行ったところです。朝8時のフライトなので、1時間ちょっとかかかる家から朝来る方がストレスだったので、泊まって良かったです。 However it was worth putting…

St Mawes, Cornwall

コーンウォールに移動しました。ホテルはSt Mawesという街中にあり、お部屋の窓のすぐ外に海。波の寄せる音と共にかもめの鳴き声がずっと聞こえています。 We drove to Cornwall and are at our hotel in St Mawes. The sea is right outside the window of our room and we can hear the seagulls all the time as well as the waves.

Garden Update

今日はお昼過ぎまでは曇っていたので、お昼の後少し休憩してまた草取りに励みました。途中からお天気が良くなって暑くなったので１度５分ほど休憩を挟みましたが、２時間くらい頑張りました。夫も途中から参加。大きな雑草はほぼ制覇してずいぶんスッキリしました。もちろん日々成長しますし新しいのも生えて来るのですが、後は毎日しなくても週に２度くらいで大丈夫じゃないかなと思っています。夫に、ガーデナーさんにもっと頻繁に来ていただくようにプッシュ中。ぎっくり腰になるのが怖い。 It was very dull weather until around 3.00pm today, so after resting a little after lunch, I did some more weeding.  It became very sunny later so I had a rest for 5 minutes but I worked on weeding for about 2 hours, my husband joined me later.  I think we got out almost…

Holiday Day 11 / Inverness Day 2 (Tea)

今日のお茶は、スーパーマーケット(M&S)で買ったペイストリーミングと。美味しいケーキは諦めて、ペイストリーにして正解。 We had pastries from M&S with tea today. We’ve given up trying to find good sophisticated cakes here, we’ll stick to pastries in future, they are nice enough.

Holiday Day 11 / Inverness Day 2 (Poor Fawn)

今日は日曜日ですし、夫の希望で休息日にしました。お昼前にロッジから15分くらいのところにあるインバネスの街まで行って、軽くお昼をして、ついでに少しお買い物をしてロッジに戻ってゆっくり過ごす、という1日。 It’s Sunday today and my husband wanted to have a rest from driving, so we just went to Inverness (15 minutes by car) to have a light lunch, did a little shopping, came back and are spending the rest of the day relaxing at the lodge. 出かけた時に、ロッジがある敷地内で鹿の（多分）子供を見かけました。わたしたちを見て慌ててうろうろしていましたが、右側はかなり険しい坂道で木々もたくさん植わっていて多分上れない、左側は柵があり、トゲトゲのワイヤーもあるので通れない。 When we went out and were driving…
