Breakfast in Riad (Marrakesh)

マラケシュのリアドでの朝食を書き忘れました。普段朝はとても弱いので朝食はとりませんが、今回最初の1週間近く時差ぼけが酷くてとても早く目が覚めて(というよりも夕方に寝てしまって2時半ごろに目が覚めて)しまい朝にはお腹が空いていましたし、ロンドンでもマラケシュでも朝から行動していたのでわたしも少し朝食をとっていました。多分、長く生きてきて、2週間続けて朝食をとったのは記憶にある限り初めて(笑)。

大抵の方が中庭で召し上がっていましたが、マラケシュは朝から日差しが強く、気温は寒いくらいであまり心地よいとは感じなかったので室内で。

フレッシュのオレンジジュースとフルーツサラダ(数種類のフレッシュのフルーツを細かく切ったものを甘いシロップに漬けてありましたが、わたしにはシロップは甘すぎたのでできるだけシロップはすくわずにフルーツだけ食べていました、ざくろが甘くてジューシーでした)。1日目はモロッコのペイストリーもいただき、は美味しかったですがとても甘くてこってりしていたので翌日からは半熟卵。

I forgot to write about breakfast at the riad we stayed at in Marrakesh.  I usually don’t have breakfast.  I’m not a morning person and I don’t feel hungry enough to eat anything for a couple of hours after I get up so I usually wait until lunch time to eat.  However, with bad jet-lag, I was going to bed early in the evening and waking up around 2.30am so I was hungry by breakfast time.  This was still continuing when we moved to Marrakesh so I was having breakfast. This is probably the first time ever that I had breakfast more than 3 days in a row!   Most people were having their breakfast in the courtyard but it was quite chilly in the morning and the sun was already very strong so we had it inside the dining room.

We had fresh orange juice, my husband had musli with milk (but not me).  The fruit salad, which was mixture of chopped fruits in very sweet syrup (I tried not to get the syrup and eat just the fruits).  On the 1st morning, I tried their pastry, which was quite nice but too sweet and too heavy for me so from the 2nd day I had soft boiled egg(s) like my husband.
