今日は、月に１度伺っているお花のお教室「CARPO」とPalais Renaissanceに入っているお店（ Gauxs の花瓶を扱っているお店）とのコラボのイベントに参加したのですが、会場に向かうためにコールしたタクシーでひどい目に遭いました。詳しく書くと長くなるので書きませんが、朝から気分の悪いこと。シンガポールのタクシーの運転手さん、香港に比べてフレンドリーで感じの良い方が多いのですが、時々とんでもない人がいます。幸い早く出たので５分前くらいに到着しましたが、ギリギリの時間に出ていたら大幅に遅刻するところでした。

I attended a special event of “Carpo”, which is the flower class I go to once a month.  The event was a collaboration with the shop at Palais Renaissance, which sells Gauxs vases.  To get there I called for a taxi and the driver was the most unprofessional and unpleasant person.  The incident is too long to write here so I won’t bore you with it but he really spoiled my mood!  I feel that there are many nicer taxi drivers here than in Hong Kong but you do get someone like this now and again.  Fortunately I left home very early so I still made it but I would have been late if I left home thinking it’ll give me just the right time to get there.

お花のレッスンのあと、とても久しぶりにご一緒したお友達と同じビルの中にある P.S.Cafe でランチをしました。

After the event, I had lunch with a friend I hadn’t been able to see for a long time at P.S.Cafe in the same building.

お友達は、スーパーフード・サラダ。残念なことに全然味がなかったそうです。ドレッシングを忘れたんじゃないかということになり、スタッフにそうお伝えしてドレッシングをいただいたのですが、そのドレッシング自体がほとんどオイルというものでかけたら油っこくなってしまったようでした。お塩と胡椒を足しても足しても美味しくならない感じで。。。レモン汁でもお願いすれば良かったね、と後になって言っていたのですが。味のないサラダ、味のないサンドイッチ、よくあることです。反対に塩辛くて食べられないものも時々ありますが。こんなにシンプルなものが美味しくないって。。。ね〜。

My friend had Superfood Salad.  Sadly, she said it had no taste at all.  We thought they forgot to pour on the salad dressing so we asked for it but when it came the dressing had no taste as it was mostly oil without much seasoning or any vinegar or lemon juice.  She was adding a lot of salt and pepper to try to improve it but I don’t thin it was tasty.  I must say this happens often in Singapore.  Salad that has no taste, sandwich that has no taste… Also you get something too salty to be able to eat…  This is such a simple dish, you would think anybody can make it well.

 

わたしは、ターキー・クランベリーサンドイッチ。クランベリージャムが多くて少し甘すぎるとは思いますが、サンドイッチ好きなわたしは結構好きなサンドイッチです。サラダは上のサラダ同様味がなく美味しくなく、トマトはびっくりの酸っぱさだったので味見だけ。その分、この巨大なサンドイッチを食べてしまいました。

I had Turkey Cranberry Sandwich.  Although I feel it’s a bit too sweet because it has a lot of cranberry jam, I quite like this sandwich.  The salad on the side was also tasteless and the tomatoes were extremely sour so I left most of it but I did finish these huge sandwiches.

久しぶりにお目にかかったので話すことが多すぎて。。。このところの頭痛の種の話しを話していたら、食べすぎてしまいました。

There was too much to talk about, specially about something that has been giving me a headache lately – I ended up eating too much as I was talking so much…

 

 

食事は美味しかったり美味しくなかったり、ですが、少なくともスタッフの方達はみなさんフレンドリー。なかなかオーダーをとってもらえなかったり、お勘定をいただくのに時間がかかったり、などはありますが、どのP.S.Cafeでもスタッフの態度で嫌な思いをしたことはこれまで一度もありません、みなさん笑顔で対応してくださいます。当たり前と思われるかもしれませんが、シンガポールでは決して当たり前ではありません。そんなことも多分人気の理由かなと思います。

Their food isn’t always good – some good, some not so good – but I find their staff always friendly whichever branch you go to.  Sometimes we have problems getting attention from the staff but I’ve never had any unpleasant experience with them, they are always smiling at their customers.  You may think that’s normal but it’s not normal here.   I think that’s one big reason why they are very popular.
