今日から２泊で、イギリスから姪っ子（夫の弟の娘）が遊びに来ています。去年大学を卒業してしばらくインターンで働いていましたが、今日から数ヶ月お友達とオーストラリア、ニュージーランド、アジア数カ国に旅行するそう。シンガポールにはオーストラリアに行く途中で２泊して、帰りにもう少し長く滞在するつもりなのだそう。去年エジンバラで甥っ子には会えましたが彼女には会えなかったので、２年ぶりくらいです。

Our niece (my husband’s younger brother’s daughter) from England is here for 2 nights.  She graduated from university last year and has been working as an intern but is now off on her long travels in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.  She stopped in Singapore just for a couple of days on her way to Australia but she is planning to stay with us longer on her way back.  Last year we spent a few days with our nephew but she wasn’t able to come at that time so it’s been a couple of years since we saw her last.

今日の夕食は、大阪キッチンに行きました。カウンターに座って中で調理される様子を見ながらというのはイギリスにはないスタイルですし、アジア料理も好きとのことなので選んでみました。

We took her to Osaka Kitchen for dinner tonight.  I thought it’ll be interesting for her to see the chefs cooking in front of us as that is unusual and she likes Asian food.

近江牛、コロコロステーキ。今日は１人１００gずつでしたのでわたしには少し多すぎましたが、夫が喜んで少し食べてくれました。

Ohmi Beef (from Japan).  We had 100g each today, which is more than we usually have and it was a little too much for me but my husband was happy to help me.

Soba-meshi (Stir-fried noodles & rice).

 

飲み物は生ビール、わたしと姪っ子は１杯ずつ、夫は２杯。お会計は３００ドル、今日はビーフが多かったですからね。美味しかったです。

Our niece and I had a glass of draft beer each and my husband had 2.  The bill was S$300.  We had quite a lot more beef today than we usually do.
