Gnocchi Tomato Mozzarella (Pasta Delivery)

I’ve see some adverts of nationwide delivery services from restaurants recently so we tried one of them – “Scarpetta”.  They deliver you packets of homemade pasta, sauce & toppings separately so all you do is to open the packets, cook the pasta, warm up the sauce, mix them together and put on some toppings if there are any.  One order is supposed to be for one person so we ordered 2 sets and also a starter, which was Scamorza with pistachio and guanciale, to share.

The starter was good, but the cheese is very salty on its own then you add guanciale on top so it was, for me, far too salty to eat alone.  I would have liked it on toast or maybe with something more fresh added to it.

The pasta was gnocchi filled with tomato sauce and mozzarella.  You boil the gnocchi for 3 minutes and add them to melted butter with some of the gnocchi cooking water and stir until the sauce becomes thick, then plate them, topped with a mixture of pine nuts and Parmesan cheese.  I wish I’d taken a photo of a cut gnocchi – a creamy tomato sauce comes out.  We ordered this thinking it’s not something we would cook at home.  Although it was very good, it is very rich with the filling of a mixture of mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce and also the melted butter sauce, so 3 of them was enough for me.  I think I ate 5 but couldn’t eat any more.  I enjoyed what I had but it was very rich so a half of the portion would have been plenty – although my husband enjoyed all 10 of his.
