デボンでの3日目だった昨日は、ドロゴ城に行きました。随分昔に2度ほど行ったことがありますが、久しぶり。イギリスで1番新しく建てられたお城で、1910年から1930年にかけて建てられたそうです。高台にあるので風が強くて寒かったですが、雨が降らなくて良かったです。お城の中は、とても近代的で、バスルームのバスタブは一部シャワーブースになっていて最近やっと普通のお家でも使われるようになったレインシャワーや両横からお湯が出てくる穴がたくさん空いていました。

On the third day in Devon, which was yesterday, we went to Castle Drogo. We’d been there a couple of times before but it was many many years ago. It’s the last castle built in England (1910-1930). The inside of the castle is very advanced. For example, the bathtub has a shower booth area with lots of holes for the warm water to come out on both sides as well as a rain shower head, which became common in ordinary houses only in quite recent years.

最初に早めのランチをしました。最近、長年のリストレーションが行われて、カフェも新しく出来たようです。

First we had an early lunch at their new cafe. They recently went through a restoration of the castle and also built the cafe.

夫は、クロックムッシュ。わたしは、バターナッツスクウォッシュのファラフェルラップ。結構、美味しかったです。

My husband had Croque Monsieur and I had Butternut Squash Falafel Wrap, both quite good.
