今日は、シンガポールの５３回目の建国記念日で祝日になっていますが、夫は今週特に急ぎの仕事があって忙しらしく、祝日も週末も返上の様子です。先ほど花火の音がしていましたが、わたしも夫も人混みが苦手なので出かけず、ごく普通の１日でした。

It’s Singapore’s 53rd birthday today, but my husband has been particularly busy this week and there is no holiday or weekend for him – same for me for this reason.  We heard some fireworks but we don’t go out on such a day as both of us hate crowds.  So, it was a very ordinary day for both of us.

夕食は、少しだけお休み気分になれるよう、ちょっと久しぶりの夫が大好きなチーズフォンデュー。切って茹でるだけ、切って和えるだけ、並べるだけ、というものばかりなのですが、品数が多い分思っているより準備に時間がかかります。フォンデューポット用の燃料が見つからず、仕方なく卓上ガス台を使っています、テーブルがやぼったくなって悲しい。

I prepared Cheese Fondue to feel a little ‘public holiday’ mood, my husband loves Cheese Fondue.  All I do is to peel, cut and boil or cut and mix with dressing or put things on a plate, but it takes surprisingly long to prepare.  We haven’t found the proper fuel for our Cheese Fondue pot for a long time so we are using this Japanese portable gas cooking equipment.  It makes the table so “not sophisticated’, but we have no choice.
